On November 21, 1991, a significant event occurred in the history of science and education in Russia: by decree of then-President Boris Yeltsin, the Russian Academy of Sciences (RAS) was established.

Its creation was a response to the challenges of the time, when the country needed to update its scientific approach and introduce modern research methods.

The Academy united numerous scientific institutes and laboratories, creating a powerful platform for scientific activity. The Russian Academy of Sciences became a hub for scientists to exchange ideas, conduct joint research, and develop innovative projects.

Today, the Russian Academy of Sciences continues to actively develop, introducing new scientific directions and attracting a younger generation of scientists to scientific activities.

The State University of Management actively collaborates with the Academy and fully supports initiatives aimed at developing science and education. The university houses a Student Design Bureau and several research centers, and conducts ongoing research and development. An Advanced Engineering School has been established jointly with the M.D. Millionshchikov State Petroleum Technological University.

We congratulate all scientists, academics, and students on this significant date and wish them continued success in their scientific endeavors. May the academics' achievements inspire a new generation of researchers to make discoveries and accomplishments for the benefit of society and the country.

This Friday is doubly wonderful than any other, because today marks the birthday of Nikolai Mikhailov, Advisor to the Rector's Office of the State University of Management, Associate Professor, and PhD in Geographical Sciences.

There's probably not a single person on our university floor who doesn't know Nikolai Nikolaevich: his smile encourages applicants, his penetrating gaze inspires a desire to learn, and his ironclad character keeps all the admissions staff and faculty of the Ecology and Nature Management program on their toes.

Nikolai Mikhailov, a true member of the Russian Geographical Society, has traveled throughout the country, from the southern seas to the Arctic Circle, and understands the unique characteristics of different regions like no one else.

On this day, we wish him many more years to maintain his youthful spirit, positive attitude, and cheerfulness, so that he can continue to make our university even better and more effective.

World Children's Day: Caring for the Future

Translation. Region: Russian Federation –

An important disclaimer is at the bottom of this article.

On November 20, Russia and more than 120 other countries around the world celebrate World Children's Day.

In 1954, the UN General Assembly recommended that all countries establish the practice of celebrating this date as a day of world brotherhood and mutual understanding among children, dedicated to activities aimed at ensuring the well-being of children throughout the world.

The date is no coincidence – it was on this day that the UN General Assembly adopted the Declaration of the Rights of the Child in 1959, and the Convention on the Rights of the Child in 1989, according to which a child is every human being under the age of 18.

The purpose of this holiday is to remind adults of the fragility of childhood, the value of every child, and the need to protect and help in various situations.

The State University of Management always cares for its students, including potential ones. SUM has a Pre-University, where 10th- and 11th-grade students gain in-depth knowledge in three fields in a comfortable and safe environment. Four mother-and-child rooms are open in different buildings on campus. The university participates in the Entrepreneurship Classes program in Moscow, hosts various Olympiads and competitions, and as part of the Business and Entrepreneurship Course, our staff and students organize shifts at the country's largest children's centers: Artek, Orlyonok, Smena, and Okean.

We congratulate everyone on this important holiday and encourage you to do something good every day for the benefit of children, teenagers, and young adults. After all, we all need care and protection, no matter our age, but especially in childhood.

80 years since the start of the Nuremberg Trials

Translation. Region: Russian Federation –

Source: Official website of the State –

An important disclaimer is at the bottom of this article.

On November 20, 1945, the International Military Tribunal began its work in Nuremberg to try the former leaders of Nazi Germany. The Nuremberg Trials became the first example of international justice in modern history.

The Six Million Word Process

The Nuremberg Trials were a series of military tribunals held by the Allies of the anti-Hitler coalition against the major criminals of the Third Reich, those responsible for the deaths of millions. Specific individuals and entire organizations were charged with inhumane crimes.

Twenty-four senior Nazi leaders appeared before the International Military Tribunal. The deaths of Adolf Hitler, Heinrich Himmler, and Joseph Goebbels were officially confirmed before the trial began.

The meeting also considered the issue of recognizing as criminal the leadership of the National Socialist Party (NSDAP), its storm troopers (SA) and security forces (SS), the security service (SD) and the secret state police (Gestapo), as well as the government cabinet, the General Staff and the High Command (OKW) of Nazi Germany.

The process of bringing justice to those who unleashed the massacre and were responsible for the deaths of millions lasted almost a year.

The trial began on November 20 and lasted nearly 11 months. 403 hearings were held, over 240 witnesses were heard, and hundreds of thousands of documents were reviewed. During the investigation, 690 boxes of documents, each containing 1,500 pages, and approximately 200,000 written witness statements were collected.

The trial was broadcast simultaneously in four languages: Russian, English, French, and German. For the first time in history, a simultaneous translation system was used. Because of the number of words translated during the trial, it is also known as the "Six Million Word Trial."

Sentences and results

Twelve defendants were sentenced to death by hanging. Most of them requested a commutation of their sentences, replacing the gallows with a firing squad, but their request was denied. The criminals were executed on the night of October 15–16, 1946, in the gymnasium of Nuremberg Prison, each one in turn. However, Göring committed suicide in his cell a few hours before his execution by taking a cyanide capsule.

Three people received life sentences, while the others received prison terms ranging from 10 to 20 years. Three more defendants were acquitted.

The tribunal also declared the SS, SD, Gestapo, and the leadership of the NSDAP criminal organizations. Consequently, all members of these organizations were subject to judicial punishment.

The Nuremberg Trials resulted not only in the condemnation of crimes. A significant outcome was the formation of generally accepted principles of international law. An important international precedent was established, emphasizing the inevitability of punishment for crimes against humanity.

Preservation of historical memory

Yulia Nadekhina, PhD in History and Associate Professor of the Department of Theory and Organization of Management at the State University of Management, emphasized the importance of preserving and disseminating the true history of the Great Patriotic War:

"Today, we are witnessing numerous attempts to revise the results of World War II and the widespread disinformation surrounding it. The main attempts to falsify the events of 1939-1945 originate from the European community, which benefits from denigrating our country and casting the history of our great people in a negative light. In this regard, it is crucial to preserve the true memory of the events of the Great Patriotic War, the atrocities, and the horrors of Nazi crimes. The results of the Nuremberg Trials, recorded in a 16,000-page transcript, are a valuable resource for anyone who doubts that Nazism is the most heinous crime against humanity."

Without the USSR, the tribunal would not have existed.

Another important fact, painstakingly "lost" by Western media, is that if Joseph Stalin hadn't insisted on a judicial process and that each criminal be punished for their crimes, there would have been no international military tribunal. Great Britain and the United States initially favored extrajudicial methods.

Even during the war, when the Allied countries were making plans to try Nazi war criminals, the British and American sides advocated a no-compromise approach. Franklin Roosevelt and Winston Churchill insisted on a political trial, which would resolve everything simply: capture the Nazis, interrogate them, and execute them.

The Nuremberg Trials became the most important event of the 20th century. They not only summed up the first half of the century but also defined international jurisprudence for the second half. The principles of the Nuremberg Trials became the foundation for the creation of modern mechanisms of international justice and continue to serve as a legal guideline in the fight against crimes against peace and humanity.

On November 19, the second day of the All-Russian Forum of Higher Education Teachers "Academic Community" was held at the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of the Russian Federation. The forum was organized by the State University of Management, the League of Higher Education Teachers, and the Ministry of Education and Science.

At the meeting, traditionally held on Higher Education Teachers' Day, the results of the annual All-Russian competition "Golden Names of Higher Education" were announced. More than 300 people participated in the event, including heads of leading universities, representatives of government agencies, and the academic community.

Antony Shvindt, Deputy Head of the Deputy Prime Minister's Secretariat, read a welcome address from Dmitry Chernyshenko, Deputy Prime Minister of the Russian Federation. It noted that the forum, which brings together teachers from across the country, is addressing the most pressing issues and challenges, including the development of the teaching profession, the human resources potential of universities, and the introduction of innovations into the educational process.

"As Vladimir Putin noted, it's important to lay the groundwork so that undergraduate and graduate students are prepared to meet the challenges ahead. Thanks to you, the future of our country is being shaped," Dmitry Chernyshenko emphasized.

Antoniy Shvindt also noted his experience in teaching and how it gives him a lot in his current work.

"It's important to impart knowledge, but the role of the educator is no less crucial, as students largely follow the teacher's example and look up to them: what they say, how they speak, and how they carry themselves. Your daily work is of enormous importance in achieving the national goals set by the President," concluded the Deputy Head of the Secretariat of the Deputy Prime Minister.

Deputy Prime Minister Alexey Avetisov read a congratulatory message from Sergei Novikov, Head of the Presidential Administration's Department for Public Projects, on Higher Education Teachers' Day. In his message, Sergei Novikov thanked teachers for nurturing generations of talented specialists and young scientists and for inspiring them with their example to new achievements and discoveries.

Vladimir Stroev, Rector of the State University of Management, also delivered a welcoming speech:

"It's very important that the event is taking place in a sacred place for all educators—the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of the Russian Federation. Previously, we met at regional venues in various cities, and the first day of the forum was held at the State University of Management, but this hall gives the event a special significance. Today, we traditionally present the awards of the All-Russian "Golden Names of Higher Education" competition, which are becoming increasingly significant for the entire teaching community every year. Today is our big, shared celebration."

The awards ceremony was held with the participation of Olga Petrova, Deputy Minister of Science and Higher Education of the Russian Federation, and Elena Lyapuntsova, Chair of the Coordinating Council of the League of Higher Education Teachers.

The forum concluded with a walking and bus tour of Moscow, during which guests visited Zaryadye Park, Victory Park on Poklonnaya Hill, and admired the legendary views of our country's capital.

Teachers from all over the country gathered at the State University of Management

Translation. Region: Russian Federation –

An important disclaimer is at the bottom of this article.

On November 18, the State University of Management hosted the All-Russian Forum of Higher Education Teachers, "Academic Community 2025," for the second consecutive year. It brought together more than 700 higher education educators and experts from across the country.

The meeting focused on key issues related to the development of human resources in higher education in the context of the system's transformation and the implementation of the national projects "Youth and Children" and "Personnel."

The forum's plenary session opened with a video message from Olga Petrova, Deputy Minister of Science and Higher Education of the Russian Federation: "It's no coincidence that the forum is being held on the eve of Higher Education Teachers' Day. I want to thank each of you for being Teachers with a capital T, who not only impart knowledge to students but also inspire them by example and set a model for active citizenship. I wish for all of us to continue to work together to create and develop a sustainable foundation for the prosperity of our country."

Vladimir Stroyev, Rector of the State University of Management, delivered a welcoming speech, emphasizing the importance of the event and the opportunities it offers.

"This is our second year hosting the forum. And it's entirely logical: we're a fairly mature university, tracing our roots back to the Alexandrovsky Commercial School and have been training managers for various industries, businesses, government agencies, and more for over a century. Over the years, we've had a huge number of faculty members. I've been in this field my whole life, and I've always been surprised that we don't have our own professional holiday. But for five years now, this day has been around, gaining weight and tradition. Today is an important day when we can discuss issues and present a resolution so that leaders understand the challenges and solutions," concluded Vladimir Vitalyevich.

Elena Lyapuntsova, Chair of the International Public Organization "League of Higher Education Teachers" (League), spoke about the specifics of this year's forum.

"This year, we're using various event formats at all our venues to comprehensively discuss existing challenges and the opportunities we want to address. Today, after the plenary session, we won't be dispersing to our individual classrooms, but will instead continue working in small groups in a single space where everyone can make their proposals. Based on the results of today's meeting, we'll develop a resolution, which we'll later submit to the relevant ministry," Elena Vyacheslavovna reminded.

Also speaking at the plenary session were Azamat Tlisov, member of the Civic Chamber of the Russian Federation; Irina Danilchenko, head of the department for interaction with educational organizations of higher education at the Russian Society "Knowledge"; Larisa Sivolap, rector of the A.I. Kuindzhi Mariupol State University; and Elena Okunkova, rector of the Nizhny Novgorod Institute for Education Development.

Following the plenary session, participants continued their work through strategic sessions and roundtables, participated in the All-Russian scientific and practical conference "Managing the Development of Higher Education Human Resources," and attended open legal consultations, master classes on media literacy, and the use of AI in creating educational content.

The first day of the forum concluded with a festive concert featuring over a hundred performers. The event was organized by the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of the Russian Federation jointly with the All-Russian Public Organization for the Promotion of Higher Education "League of Higher Education Teachers" and the State University of Management.
