On October 22, 2025, the State University of Management hosted a business game, "IT – the Hands and Eyes of the Engineer of the Future," for students in grades 10-11 as part of the RosGeoTech Advanced Engineering School (AES) project at the M.D. Millionshchikov Grozny State Petroleum Technological University (GSOTU).

Before the master class, Maxim Pletnev, Head of the Scientific Research Coordination Department at the State University of Management, introduced the guests to the extensive work of the RosGeoTech Scientific School, which covers such areas as alternative energy, power engineering, oil and gas, as well as autonomous unmanned and robotic innovative systems.

Andrey Luzhetsky, head of the RosGeoTech School of Industrial and Applied Sciences, addressed the participants with a welcoming speech.

The central part of the event was a presentation by Dmitry Taldykin, a junior research fellow at the Reverse Engineering Laboratory. He vividly demonstrated how neural networks are transforming from a tool for automating routine tasks into intelligent partners capable of unlocking human potential.

"We're stopping asking AI, 'What can you do for me?' and starting asking, 'How can you help me think better, solve more complex problems, and learn faster?'" Dmitry Taldykin began his presentation.

He presented a project to the students to create a personalized learning system based on large-scale language models. The students learned how AI adapts educational content in real time to each student's cognitive style and learning speed, transforming passive information acquisition into an active dialogue.

The topic of "cognitive enhancement" was of particular interest to the audience. Dmitry Taldykin discussed the development of brain-computer interfaces that enable the use of AI to expand working memory and accelerate big data analysis. The students were able to see how neural network algorithms can be used to identify hidden patterns in scientific research and generate new hypotheses.

The scientist also discussed the role of AI in developing critical thinking. He explained the concept of "intellectual counterbalance"—when AI doesn't provide ready-made answers, but rather challenges human arguments, helping to test their strength and avoid cognitive biases.

The lecture clearly demonstrated that the future lies in the symbiosis of human and artificial intelligence. The knowledge gained motivates young researchers not to fear technology but to actively engage in its development, so that they can collaborate with machines to solve problems currently beyond the capabilities of either type of intelligence alone. The event aimed to foster a new generation of leaders prepared to collaborate with advanced technologies.

On October 8, 2025, the State University of Management hosted the 1st International Scientific and Practical Conference "Ensuring the Country's Food Security through the Creation of Software and Hardware Complexes and Intelligent Platform Digital Solutions in the Agro-Industrial Complex."

The conference focuses on a major research project, "Ensuring the Country's Food Security through the Creation of Software and Hardware Complexes and Intelligent Platform Digital Solutions in the Sphere of Developing Full-Life-Cycle Agro-Industrial Technologies," implemented with the financial support of the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of the Russian Federation (Agreement No. 075-15-2024-542).

The conference focused on ensuring food security through the implementation of digital and robotic technologies in the agricultural sector. Held in a hybrid format, the event brought together over 200 participants, including project partners, industrial partners, relevant international partners, international scientific and educational organizations, Russian and international scientists, IT solution developers, and representatives of government agencies and agribusiness. A collection of abstracts from the conference presentations will be published online and in print.

The conference began with a plenary session, opened and moderated by GUU Vice-Rector Maria Karelina:

Otari Didmanidze, Academician of the Russian Academy of Sciences, Professor, Doctor of Engineering Sciences, and head of a major research project at SUM in the field of agriculture, welcomed the audience. He expressed his delight that the conference was organized at SUM and briefly outlined the importance of the research project he leads at our university. He noted that seven of the 11 scientists working on its implementation are young professionals.

"The project's main idea is to establish a closed and completely independent agricultural production cycle. A platform-based approach to implementation and a strong, capable team of young scientists led by SUMU Rector Vladimir Stroyev will enable us to achieve all our goals on time," said Otari Didmanidze.

Professor Zakhid Godzhaev, Corresponding Member of the Russian Academy of Sciences and Doctor of Engineering Sciences, identified production criteria that "cry out loud and force us to implement artificial intelligence." These include high energy and material costs per unit of output, low productivity, and low yield per unit of area. The professor pointed out that to improve these indicators, it is necessary to upgrade the equipment fleet, convert it to automated electric drives, develop adaptive control systems, expand monitoring of planting areas, and introduce state standards for the application of AI in agriculture.

Andrey Ronzhin, Director of the St. Petersburg Federal Research Center of the Russian Academy of Sciences, Professor of the Russian Academy of Sciences, Doctor of Engineering Sciences, and Professor of the Russian Academy of Sciences, presented the developments of his research center, including agricultural drones for use on land, in the air, and in water. Specifically, his St. Petersburg colleagues have successfully adapted AI to combat the Colorado potato beetle. The expert also highlighted the challenge of certifying cutting-edge agricultural technologies.

Maxim Chekusov, Director of the Omsk Agricultural Research Center, PhD in engineering, Associate Professor, and Honorary Worker of the Agro-Industrial Complex of the Russian Federation, expressed his delight at collaborating with the State University of Management, as he is a graduate of the latter. He described the activities of the Omsk Agricultural Research Center, which has become the largest landowner among scientific organizations, manages 1,100 head of dairy cattle, and is involved in the breeding of 14 crops. Maxim Chekusov acknowledged that it is extremely difficult to attract young people to tractor work today, so unmanned technologies seem the only alternative for agricultural development.

Professor Alexander Makarov, Vice-Rector for Research and Strategic Development Programs at Udmurt State University and Doctor of Economics, described the joint work with SMU on a major project in the agricultural sector as challenging but productive. It yielded interesting and significant scientific results. For Udmurt State University, the prospect of creating a subsector for agricultural waste recycling is particularly important.

Irina Bukharina, a Doctor of Biological Sciences and Professor at Udmurt State University, noted the particular relevance of collaboration with the State University of Management in light of the country's ongoing implementation of the federal circular economy project. The professor discussed Udmurt State University's work in this area, specifically on the use of insects in the recycling of agricultural waste.

After the plenary session, the following sections of the conference took place: – State policy and economic mechanisms for ensuring food security; – Digital intelligent platform solutions and big data in the agro-industrial complex; – Software and hardware systems and robotic technologies in the agro-industrial complex; – Personnel for the modern agro-industrial complex.

Professor Magomed Magomedov of the State University of Management delivered the opening keynote address. Particular attention was paid to the current state and prospects for improving food security in Russia. The presentation generated lively interest and discussion among the participants.

In his presentation, Professor Yassin Al-Husban of Al-Isra University in Aman discussed an integrated aquaponics system for sustainable feed production in Jordan. He warmly welcomed the participants, thanked the State University of Agriculture for the opportunity to speak at the conference, and expressed hope for joint international projects.

Nikita Kukharenko, a leading accreditation expert at the Belarusian State Accreditation Center, spoke about current trends in standardization and certification in the agricultural sector in the context of market globalization and digital transformation. His colleague from Belarus emphasized the need to ensure the food sovereignty of EAEU countries by increasing the competitiveness of agricultural products in the global market.

Roman Klyuev, a leading researcher at the N.V. Melnikov Institute for Integrated Mineral Resource Development of the Russian Academy of Sciences, presented a report on the pressing issue of energy supply for autonomous industrial facilities, including in agricultural production. The expert's proposals will be useful for projects being implemented by our university.

Vladimir Makarov and Sergey Zhukov, colleagues from the Nizhny Novgorod State Technical University and the Nizhny Novgorod State University of Engineering and Economics, shared their achievements in the design of chassis for autonomous ground-based mobile agricultural complexes.

Sergey Korchagin, Nikita Andrianov, Elena Dogadina, Natalia Bespalova, and Rima Gorokhova from the Financial University presented their findings in the fields of machine learning, computer vision, and robotics in the modern agricultural sector.

Our colleagues from the Federal Scientific Agroengineering Center VIM, Andrey Kovalev, Alexey Kutyrev, Mikhail Chaplygin, and Kirill Dmitriev, presented preliminary results of a major joint research project with the State University of Management (GUU) on the development of modules for managing carbon-neutral agriculture, waste management, and modern digital technologies in agricultural production.

Digital agriculture and carbon polygons: GUU and Tyumen State University outline a path for collaboration

A working meeting between research teams from the State University of Management and Tyumen State University took place at the Tyumen Carboniferous Test Site near Lake Kuchak in the Nizhnetavdinsky District of the Tyumen Region. The main topics of discussion included projects in the digitalization of the agro-industrial complex, remote environmental sensing technologies, the development of an ecosystem-based approach to monitoring protected natural sites, and joint educational programs between the two universities.

On September 29, 2025, a meeting of the University's Scientific and Technical Council was held at SUM, during which research teams reported on the interim results of their projects.

"Today, SUM is implementing a vast number of research projects—from engineering and economics to socio-political ones. R&D volumes have grown over the past four years, from 60 million rubles in 2022 to 350 million rubles as of 2025, a more than fivefold increase. The expansion of the range of fundamental and applied research and work on corporate contracts is being achieved through building competencies in the design of heavy and special-purpose engineering components and assemblies, automation of production processes, the implementation of artificial intelligence, the creation of hardware and software systems and platform solutions for the agro-industrial complex, autonomous unmanned systems, and robotic systems. The university's traditional research areas in socio-economics have significantly strengthened their position. Work is currently ongoing on bidding campaigns to attract funding for contract work from enterprises in the real sector of the economy," noted Vice-Rector Maria Karelina.

Sergei Sidorenko, Chief Researcher of the Scientific Activities Department of the Scientific Research Coordination Department, reported on the implementation of the research project "Development of Approaches and Methods for Assessing the Effectiveness of Fundamental and Exploratory Scientific Research, Taking into Account the Labor Costs Required for Its Implementation."

At the end of the meeting, the council decided to include the All-Russian scientific and practical conference "Sustainable Management: Projects, People, Research" in the SUM's 2025 scientific and technical events plan.

On September 25 and 26, 2025, a delegation from the State University of Management held a series of strategic meetings in Khabarovsk Krai aimed at developing the human resources potential of the regional industry.

The event was attended by Vice-Rector Maria Karelina, Head of the Modern Educational Laboratory for the Aircraft, Shipbuilding, and Innovative Transport Industries (CNC Laboratory) Dmitry Nikitin, and research associates of the CNC Laboratory Roman Prodan and Oleg Telnov.

The key event on September 25 was a meeting with Yuri Marfin, Rector of Pacific National University (PNU), and Sergei Afanasyev, Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade of the Khabarovsk Krai. They discussed the regional industry's need for personnel skilled in modern materials processing technologies and CNC programming. The parties also noted the importance of practice-oriented student training and targeted employee training programs tailored to the needs of the real economy, as well as the prospects for creating and implementing joint network educational programs for continuing professional education (CPE). The main topic of discussion was leveraging the potential of the state-of-the-art CNC Laboratory, established at PNU under a grant from the Russian Ministry of Education and Science.

"We see significant synergies from combining our expertise with Pacific National University. Joint continuing education programs, based on the capabilities of our new laboratory, will enable us to train highly qualified specialists for the aviation and shipbuilding industries of the Far East," noted Maria Karelina.

On September 26, a delegation from the State University of Management visited key industrial and educational institutions in Komsomolsk-on-Amur.

The highlight of the trip was a visit to the Yuri Gagarin Komsomolsk-on-Amur Aviation Plant (KnAAZ), a branch of PJSC UAC. SMU scientists held a working meeting with the plant's chief engineer and chief technologist, during which they discussed in detail the current challenges of training personnel for high-tech production.

Representatives from our university proposed to the plant's management that they consider the possibility of having plant specialists participate in continuing education programs developed by the CNC Laboratory, which are aimed at improving the skills of engineering and technical staff in the field of automated control program development and work with modern CNC systems.

During the visit, the GUU delegation also visited the machining shops, where they interacted directly with CNC machine operators.

"The company is actively developing its machining operations, and we are ready to offer comprehensive solutions for training and retraining specialists," noted Dmitry Nikitin, Head of the CNC Laboratory.

The next stop on the route was PJSC Amurstal, where the SMU representatives were shown a new area of the company's operations—the development of CNC machining. During the visit, our scientists toured the production facilities, equipped with modern metalworking equipment, and discussed prospects for cooperation in personnel training with the plant's management.

A key part of the program was a visit to Komsomolsk-on-Amur State University (KnASU). The KSU delegation learned about the university's facilities, visiting classrooms and machining workshops. The organization of project activities at KnASU was of particular interest. The parties productively exchanged experiences in implementing external projects commissioned by industrial enterprises, discussed best practices for interacting with the real economy, and explored the possibility of jointly implementing educational projects.

On September 18, 2025, a working meeting was held between a delegation from the State University of Management and representatives of the M.D. Millionshchikov Grozny State Petroleum Technological University.

The event was attended by Vice-Rector Maria Karelina, Head of the Modern Educational Laboratory for the Aircraft, Shipbuilding, and Innovative Transport Industries (part of the automated development of control programs and the study of the basics of working with a CNC system for machine tools of various technological groups), Dmitry Nikitin, and researchers from the CNC Laboratory, Roman Prodan, Oleg Telnov, and Maxim Pletnev.

The main goal of the meeting was to expand educational cooperation between universities in the field of continuing professional education and the work of the modern educational Laboratory of the Scientific and Practical Univ.

The key focus of the discussion was the training of specialists in industrial automation and CNC systems for the aircraft, shipbuilding, and innovative transport industries. Particular attention was paid to the development of new continuing professional education programs for engineering and teaching staff.

Following a fruitful discussion, the parties reached important agreements on conducting intensive educational courses and lectures for GGNTU students on modern automation systems. The launch of these joint educational programs is scheduled for October 2025.

The meeting marked a significant step in the implementation of the federal project "Development of the most important science-intensive technologies and advanced training and retraining of qualified personnel in the field of transport mobility" of the national project "Industrial support of transport mobility."

Scientific journals of the State University of Management have been included in the "White List"

An interdepartmental working group has compiled the Russian version of the Unified State List of Scientific Publications (USLPS)—the "White List." The list was created to monitor and evaluate publication activity in the Russian Federation. The main feature of the new version is the prioritization of publications in domestic scientific journals.

In total, the Russian part of the new list included 3,120 journals, distributed across four levels, where the first level is the highest.

Three publications from the State University of Management, namely the academic journals "Management," "E-Management," and "Digital Sociology," have been assigned Level 2 status on the White List. Publications in these journals will now be considered not only for dissertation defenses but also for the evaluation of research results.

The white list is published on the website of the Russian Center for Scientific Information.

By the end of 2025, it is planned to approve the regulations for the inclusion of new journals in the Unified State Register of Public Prosecutors and to form the final version of the list with foreign publications.

The forum was held at the Skolkovo Innovation Center from August 7 to 17 and brought together leading developers, manufacturers and operators of unmanned systems, as well as representatives of government, business and science. The international forum included a business program, an exhibition of advanced technologies, the project-educational intensive course "Archipelago" and sports competitions, including the Moscow Mayor's Cup in drone racing.

Within the framework of the Forum, representatives of the State University of Management took part in several industry sections.

The section "Fuel and Energy Complex. Digital Transformation of Energy: Possibilities of Unmanned Systems" was devoted to the role of drones in the transition of the energy industry to more sustainable, efficient and safe models of work. Participants discussed the integration of unmanned systems into the "digital DNA" of energy, diagnostics of power lines and pipelines, as well as the prospects for geological exploration using UAS. Particular attention was paid to the analysis of existing barriers and ways to overcome them.

The section "Construction. UAS in design, construction and operation: possibilities and limitations" covered the experience of using drones for inspection of objects, mapping and control of construction processes. Participants considered practical cases, economic effects from the introduction of unmanned technologies and regulatory challenges standing in the way of their mass application in the urban environment.

In addition to business discussions, GUU employees held a number of meetings with drone and component manufacturers from all over the country, exchanged experiences and discussed the possibilities of joint projects.

On August 12, 2025, a delegation from AIR Magistral, headed by the company's First Deputy General Director Alexander Makhnovsky, paid a return visit to the State University of Management.

Director of the Engineering Project Management Center of the State University of Management Vladimir Filatov introduced his colleagues to the activities of the Center and spoke about the projects that are currently being carried out by the employees of the Center on the orders of the key partners of the university. Particular attention was paid to the creation of 3D models, digitalization of electric train drawings for TMH Engineering LLC and research aimed at modernization and creation of new types of mechanical engineering products for Mercator Kaluga LLC. In addition, Vladimir Filatov and technician of the reverse engineering laboratory of the State University of Management Maxim Koshkarev presented the guests with the results of work on the creation of an unmanned front-line transporter based on the LuAZ-967, which is being carried out at the student design bureau "Innovative Solutions".

TsUIP specialists Vladimir Kutkov and Nikita Akinshin told representatives of the AIR Magistral company about current research in the field of unmanned aircraft systems and the use of artificial intelligence and demonstrated prototypes of super-maneuverable drones developed at the State University of Management.

During the tour of the reverse engineering laboratory, the guests were introduced to the advanced equipment used by university scientists to conduct R&D in the interests of enterprises in the real sector of the economy, in particular, to create digital twins of various parts and units of agricultural and municipal equipment, including foreign-made ones.

At the end of the meeting, the director of the Center for Strategic Research Vladimir Filatov and his deputy Dmitry Nikitin discussed with their colleagues from AIR Magistral priority areas for further cooperation, in particular, the training of highly qualified personnel for the needs of the company, joint scientific collaborations and the implementation of engineering projects based on the State University of Management.

From August 7 to 17, the Skolkovo Innovation Center is hosting the project-based educational intensive course "Archipelago 2025". The event is one of the main events for the Russian unmanned and robotic systems industry, each year gathering leading experts, government officials, business and the scientific community to discuss current trends in industries such as the drone industry, near space and biotechnology.

On August 10, as part of the intensive course, a strategic session was held on the use of unmanned aerial systems in agriculture, which was attended by Dmitry Rybakov, a research fellow at the Center for Management of Engineering Projects of the State University of Management, and Vladimir Kutkov and Nikita Akinshin, junior research fellows at the Laboratory of Reverse Engineering of the State University of Management. Representatives of the State University of Management, together with colleagues from agricultural universities, agricultural enterprises and technology companies from all over the country, discussed current problems and promising solutions in this area. The discussion focused on key issues facing the agro-industrial complex in the context of the introduction of UAS. The session participants analyzed the existing barriers that hinder the widespread use of unmanned technologies in agriculture and proposed ways to overcome them. Representatives of the agricultural sector shared practical experience in using drones to monitor the condition of crops, accurately apply fertilizers and plant protection products, and assess damage from natural disasters.

This year, the Archipelago is being held as part of the International Forum "Unmanned Systems: Technologies of the Future". In the coming days, the GUU staff will be attending a number of events dedicated to research and development in the field of UAS for the logistics, oil and gas and construction industries. Let us remind you that our university has a significant scientific background and experience in applied work in the field of unmanned aircraft systems. GUU is the lead executor of a major scientific project "Ensuring food security of the country based on the creation of software and hardware systems and intelligent platform digital solutions in the field of development of agro-industrial technologies of the full life cycle", aimed at increasing productivity and reducing labor intensity of agricultural production of all types and stages due to comprehensive digitalization, robotization and intellectualization of processes based on domestic technologies, and within the framework of the Advanced Engineering School "RosGeoTech" at GUU, the ABRIS project is being implemented – "Autonomous unmanned and robotic innovative systems for monitoring oil and gas facilities and geophysical surveys".
