Nikita Akinshin and Vladimir Kutkov, graduate students and staff members of the GUU Engineering Center from the State University of Management, have proven that Russian researchers can change the rules of the game even in such a complex, highly specialized field as automotive logistics. Our colleagues' project in the field of artificial intelligence for transportation management received high praise from experts and a well-deserved award from the organizers of the 2nd All-Russian Competition for Young Scientists.

The development "Hybrid Decision Support System: Integration of a Machine Learning Cascade and LLM for Analytical Synthesis in Logistics" helps manage the chaos of large data streams: machine learning predicts potential delivery delays, and a large language model transforms the data into understandable recommendations for specialists. The result is accurate forecasts and specific steps for distribution optimization, ready for practical application.

"Our system is primarily focused on automotive logistics, where it addresses key challenges: predicting route delays, optimizing fleet operations, and building effective last-mile logistics by transforming disparate data into ready-to-use solutions for dispatchers. At the same time, the development's hybrid architecture allows it to be successfully adapted to other areas—from warehouse management to sea and air freight management—making the system a universal tool for the entire transportation industry," emphasized Nikita Akinshin.

The system has already proven its effectiveness in testing and could become the basis for next-generation intelligent logistics platforms—our high-tech team demonstrated this by defending the project before a prestigious expert committee.

The competition, organized by the AFK Sistema Charitable Foundation jointly with the Russian Academy of Sciences and Rospatent, attracted a record number of participants: 1,205 applications from 147 educational and 92 scientific organizations from 57 regions of Russia. The victory of Nikita Akinshin and Vladimir Kutkov is further confirmation that our university is a magnet for talented and ambitious scientists.

The awards ceremony for the winners of the All-Russian Competition for Young Scientists will take place in December 2025. We wish our champions success, creativity, and new achievements!

On October 29, 2025, the Lviv Forum, organized by the Institute of Economics and Finance of the State University of Management, opened at the State University of Management. The forum was dedicated to the scientific legacy of the legendary Russian economist, Academician of the Russian Academy of Sciences Dmitry Semenovich Lvov, a graduate of the Sergo Ordzhonikidze Moscow Engineering and Economics Institute (now the State University of Management).

The plenary session of the Lviv Forum was opened by the event's moderator, Galina Sorokina, Director of the Institute of Economics and Finance at the State University of Management, and Doctor of Economics. Sorokina noted the growing interest in studying economic theory and the works of Academician Lvov. The Atrium of our business center, where the forum was held, was truly packed.

Welcoming the participants, SUMU Vice-Rector, Doctor of Technical and Pedagogical Sciences, Professor Maria Karelina drew attention to the extensive work of our university's economic theorists and encouraged students to engage in economics on a regular basis.

Maria Yuryevna thanked for the support the student Dmitry Semenovich Lvov, the director of the Central Economics and Mathematics Institute (CEMI RAS), corresponding member of the RAS Albert Bakhtizin and corresponding member of the RAS, head of the department of “Institutional Economics” of the State University Georgy Kleiner, who conducts a lot of scientific work and passes on his knowledge to young specialists. “We must be leaders in economic science – and we have everything for this,” concluded Maria Yuryevna and, wishing the participants fruitful work, gave the floor to Albert Bakhtizin, who presented the audience with the fundamental theses of the socio-economic doctrine formed by Academician Dmitry Lvov. Back in the early 2000s, the academician drew attention to alarming demographic symptoms, speaking about the problem of excess mortality in our country’s population: “Within the framework of the social doctrine, Dmitry Semyonovich outlined the social face of Russian excess mortality – young, male, Russian,” quoted academician Bakhtizin. — As for the forecast of the number of Russians, taking into account different birth rates and migration scenarios, our calculations showed: the current trend will lead to an increase in the number of migrants of the first and subsequent waves by the end of the century to 40% of the total population, which will continue to decline. In any case, the efforts of government authorities should be aimed not only at solving problems associated with increasing the birth rate and reducing mortality, but largely at preserving the health of indigenous people and their level of development.”

Georgy Kleiner spoke about the invaluable importance of Academician Lvov's fundamental works on production efficiency, the management of scientific and technological progress, and the equitable distribution of income in the development of a unified economic theory. In conclusion, Georgy Borisovich noted that Dmitry Semenovich Lvov's legacy continues to have a profound influence on the development of Russian economic thought and proposed that the SUM leadership initiate the publication of his collected works.

Sergey Glazyev, Academician of the Russian Academy of Sciences and Head of the Department of Economic Policy and Economic Measurements at the State University of Management, noted that "Dmitry Semenovich Lvov's works remain relevant. I wouldn't say he was ahead of his time. On the contrary, if these recommendations, related to the development of scientific and technological progress and the stabilization of our economy, had been implemented 20-30 years ago, even in the medium term, they would have created new opportunities for the country's development."

Following the plenary session, the forum continued with panels and roundtable discussions. These included discussions on Russia's economic development strategy, the institutional architecture of a multipolar world, economic security tools for businesses, the development of foreign economic relations, and finance in the platform economy. Topical issues in modern economic science, technological sovereignty, and the role of moral guidelines in shaping a new development paradigm were also discussed.

It should be noted that the Lviv Forum at the State University of Management remains not only a tribute to the memory of an outstanding scholar whose ideas on fair and socially oriented economic management at the level of states and continents remain relevant today, but also a platform for the exchange of fresh scientific ideas and expert discussions, which, as Academician Kleiner said, reflect the light of the future of economic theory.

On October 24, the laboratory's grand opening brought together those who pioneered the launch of the RosGeoTech Advanced Engineering School: Andrey Luzhetsky, head of the RosGeoTech Advanced Engineering School at GGNTU and GUU; Vladimir Stroyev, Maria Karelina, and Vitaly Lapshenkov, rector and vice-rectors of GUU; and young scientists from our university. The opening took place ahead of the strategic session "Advanced Engineering Schools: From Launch to Reboot," held by the Russian Ministry of Education and Science and the Sociocenter Federal State Budgetary Institution from October 23–25 in Grozny.

This isn't just a new classroom; it's a modern platform where technological solutions for industry will be developed within the framework of the RosGeoTech Advanced Engineering School (AES). Vladimir Stroyev emphasized the significance of this event: "Our universities have been implementing the AES program for two years now, launching several projects each year, and creating our own specialized laboratory is a logical and natural step. I'm confident that the work will proceed even more rapidly now. I'd like to emphasize that we don't intend to limit ourselves to the AES itself, but will continue to develop projects for the benefit of businesses and the country as a whole."

Andrey Luzhetskiy, head of the PIS, thanked our university for its support: "We face global tasks and challenges that we must respond to promptly. And this is easier and more effective when we have partners like these. All our projects are interconnected and formed into a unified system: identifying wells, including those already shut down, analyzing the possibility of reviving and restarting them, constantly monitoring the situation, monetizing processes, and so on. For example, as part of our joint work with the State University of Management on the ABRIS project, we are developing software systems that will enable us to obtain information on a completely new level. It's gratifying to see your ideas come to life."

The Digital Innovation Lab's primary focus is the promising projects "ABRIS" and "GeoMap." The former is developing mobile and stationary robotic platforms with drones for the automatic monitoring of industrial facilities—from pipelines to complex infrastructure. The latter is dedicated to analyzing economic and environmental efficiency: specialists are assessing the benefits of mothballing old wells or converting them to geothermal power.

ABRIS and GeoMap not only train new-level specialists but also serve as the foundation for the implementation of innovative monitoring technologies in the oil and gas, energy, transportation, and agro-industrial sectors.

At the State University of Management, schoolchildren were shown how theory becomes technology and how ideas become startups. The master class for 10th- and 11th-grade students was held under the auspices of the RosGeoTech Advanced Engineering School (AES), a project implemented by the M.D. Millionshchikov Grozny State Petroleum Technological University (GSOTU) in collaboration with the State University of Management.

Revived technical thought

Before the master class, Andrey Luzhetsky, Director of the Advanced Engineering School, addressed the participants with a welcoming speech. Maxim Pletnev, Head of the Scientific Research Coordination Department at the State University of Management, spoke about the extensive work of the RosGeoTech Advanced Engineering School (1)—a project that covers cutting-edge areas of the Russian economy, including alternative energy, power engineering, the oil and gas industry, and autonomous unmanned and robotic systems.

The future starts now

The central part of the program was a presentation by Nikita Akinshin, a specialist at the Engineering Project Management Center at the State University of Management. "We're not just showing slides," the scientist said. "We're giving a glimpse into real projects that are changing the landscape of today."

Nikita Akinshin spoke about the restoration and extensive modernization of the LUAZ-967M, a Soviet SUV that engineers are transforming into a model of future technology. The vehicle is not only being restored, but also electrified, and equipped with driverless and autonomous control systems.

AI, drones, and anti-drones

A separate topic of the master class was developments in the field of unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs). The students were shown a model of a highly maneuverable, high-speed UAV and a portable anti-drone system designed to protect critical facilities.

Continuing the theme of advanced technologies, Nikita Akinshin discussed the role of artificial intelligence in engineering. He explained the principles of a hybrid decision support system (DSS), which combines machine learning (ML) and large-scale language models (LLM).

"The task of modern engineers is not only to design hardware," emphasized Nikita Akinshin, "but also to create intelligent systems that control this hardware and analyze data. It is at the intersection of these disciplines that the most breakthrough solutions are born."

The masterclass showed the students that engineering isn't some distant place, but here and now. Real-world examples and live interaction with experts helped the participants understand how technologies are born, inspiring creativity and the development of their own ideas.
