The Senezh Management Workshop hosted an awards ceremony for the winners of the first Social Architects Competition, organized by the Expert Institute for Social Research in collaboration with the "Russia – Land of Opportunities" Presidential Platform and RANEPA. Egor Ivanov and Ekaterina Romanova, students of the Institute of Secondary Vocational Education at SPbPU, won the 5th St. Petersburg Governor's Cup "Best Junior of St. Petersburg Cuisine 2025."

Professional chefs and students (juniors) from St. Petersburg, Moscow, Orenburg, and Kostroma participated in the anniversary Governor's Cup.

Peter the Great St. Petersburg Polytechnic University was represented by students from the Institute of Secondary Vocational Education, Yegor Ivanov and Ekaterina Romanova. They demonstrated excellent professional preparation and determination in a thrilling competition.

The competition task involved preparing "Novomikhaylovsky cutlets" and a dessert—two dishes from St. Petersburg cuisine, served in a restaurant setting, using recipes from 19th-century cookbooks. One of the requirements was to use a specific list of ingredients, such as chicken and fresh lemons.

The competition jury consisted of leading chefs, restaurateurs, and recognized experts in the culinary arts and hospitality industry from St. Petersburg and other regions of Russia. Among the jury members were ISPO teacher Tatyana Tsvetkova — expert of the "St. Petersburg Cuisine" project and curator of the St. Petersburg Museum of the History of Public Catering.

Our talented juniors presented a set of dishes called "Merchant's Expanse." To prepare the main course, "Novomikhaylovsky cutlets with mashed potatoes, wine apples on a cheese bed, and creamy mushroom sauce," we adapted Pelageya Alexandrova-Ignatyeva's recipe from the book "Practical Foundations of Culinary Art." The chicken was chopped using a food processor rather than by hand, the cutlets were baked in a combi-oven, and served as a side dish: mashed potatoes with sautéed onions garnished with olives; apples poached in dry red wine with sugar; cheese mousse with fresh dill; choux pastry chips; and a creamy mushroom sauce made from dried porcini mushroom powder.

The "Catherine's Ring" dessert was based on Ignatius Radetsky's recipe for "Viennese Sponge Cake" from the book "St. Petersburg Cuisine." It was complemented with a ring of mango mousse, frozen in a blast freezer, strawberry sauce, and mascarpone cream for a delicate touch. It was garnished with mint leaves, blueberries, and dragon fruit cubes, representing the dice on the merchants' tables.

The jury praised the originality of the concept and execution. As a result, Yegor and Ekaterina became winners of the 5th St. Petersburg Governor's Cup "Best Junior of St. Petersburg Cuisine – 2025."

Egor Ivanov shared his impressions of the competition with us: "I'd like to commend the top-notch organization. It was very important for me to participate in the Governor's Cup final, as our institute is actively developing "St. Petersburg cuisine." The path to victory was very challenging: passing an internal selection process, searching for and refining historical recipes numerous times. My greatest thanks go to my assistant, Ekaterina Romanova, as well as the entire coaching staff for their collaboration, and to the students, faculty, and my family for their help and support.

The citywide Mathematics Olympiad was held at ITMO University. Fifty students from Peter the Great St. Petersburg Polytechnic University participated. All participants demonstrated a high level of preparation and confident knowledge, achieving excellent results in both the team and individual competitions.

Following the Olympiad's results, Yegor Grigoryev, a third-year student at the Institute of Electronics and Telecommunications, won the individual Grand Prix, scoring the maximum number of points and leaving the other participants far behind.

The Polytechnic University held a regional robotics Olympiad for students from St. Petersburg universities. Representatives from the Higher School of Automation and Robotics of the Institute of Mechanical Engineering, Materials, and Transport at SPbPU took first place in both the team and individual competitions.

The annual Robotics Olympiad was organized by the Committee for Science and Higher Education of the Government of St. Petersburg in partnership with the Saint Petersburg Electrotechnical University "LETI." The Higher School of Automation and Robotics of SPbPU served as the event's operator in partnership with Kaspersky Lab.

This year, a record number of teams—17 from ten St. Petersburg universities—appeared in the Olympiad. We modeled real-world threats that robotic systems face in the digital world so that future engineers can learn to create not only smart but also secure robots," said Andrey Klinovitsky, head of the PoliRoboTech association.

In the individual competition, SPbPU student Yegor Meshkov (fourth-year student at the Higher School of Architecture and Radio Engineering) took gold. Second place was shared by Voenmech students Sergey Filyanov and Alexander Bezukhov. The final round of the Russian Competitive Programming Championship took place in Orenburg, bringing together the strongest professionals from 10 regions of the country. Students from the Institute of Computer Science and Cybersecurity successfully defended the Polytechnic University's honor and won silver medals.

The competition was attended by schoolchildren and students aged 14 to 18, as well as athletes over 16—more than 200 participants from across Russia. Team K1DD1EF from the Donetsk People's Republic took first place in the "Information Security Systems Programming" discipline, and our team placed second.

The student conductor team "Provorny" took part in the All-Russian Festival of Student Transport Construction Teams "Transport of the Future" in Omsk.

The event was attended by the best teams of the 2025 work semester, who worked at Russian Railways facilities, including those who ensured high-quality passenger transportation. Sofia Zaitseva, a graduate of the Civil Engineering Institute of Peter the Great St. Petersburg Polytechnic University, won a first-place diploma in the "Generation NEXT" competition for young designers. David Antonyan and Nikita Kolobanov, students from the Institute of Computer Science and Cybersecurity, were the only Russian participants to advance to the finals of the Tech Olympics 2025 competition. The event took place near Tehran at the Pardis Technology Park. More than 1,300 participants participated, including 70 international participants from 15 countries.

The competition covered six areas: cybersecurity, the Internet of Things, programming, artificial intelligence, robotic warriors, and drones. Polytechnic University representatives took part in the AI competition, where they had to train models to solve various problems. These included predicting ride costs on an American transportation service and predicting turbine failures.

Our students, as part of the [SSS ICCS] Polyrama x NEUROTECH team, demonstrated their full skills and potential. He presented a project to develop a lidar map editor for the automatic removal of dynamic objects, working for the Moscow Department of Transport and Road Infrastructure Development. The hackathon became the largest competition for the best IT specialists and the main technology event of the autumn in Russia. Anastasia Yuniceva, a student majoring in Business Informatics, was among the winners of the 2025 grant competition held by the St. Petersburg Committee for Science and Higher Education. Winning the diploma project competition sponsored by the St. Petersburg Committee for Science and Higher Education is a significant milestone in my professional career. My work, commissioned by the Committee for Transport Infrastructure Development, focused on finding effective mechanisms for managing road projects. Using Tyumen, Surgut, and Nizhnevartovsk as examples, I analyzed how coordination in road network development could be improved. The experience I gained during my internship at the St. Petersburg Directorate for Transport Construction is already helping me apply these insights in practice—I continue to work for this organization now, comments Anastasia Malashchitskaya.

In November, students will be selected to prepare their final qualifying theses for the executive authorities of St. Petersburg in the 2025/26 academic year. This stage will allow new participants to continue their practice-oriented interaction with government agencies aimed at addressing pressing urban development challenges, as well as to strengthen their skills in project analysis and the implementation of complex initiatives.
