From November 1 to 8, 2025, the international educational event "The Great Ethnographic Dictation" will take place for the tenth time. This annual event is designed for those who want to discover the diversity of our country's national cultures.

The Ethnodictation was first held in 2016 at the initiative of the Ministry of National Policy of the Udmurt Republic and the region's youth. Inspired by the format of the "Total Dictation" in Russian, activists created their own cultural competition. Since then, the initiative has grown into a large-scale event, bringing together millions of participants both in Russia and abroad. Anyone can participate, regardless of age, education, or citizenship.

The main idea is to test our knowledge of the peoples living in our country and assess the overall level of ethnocultural literacy. The anniversary event is included in the program of the International Festival "Peoples of Russia and the CIS" and is being held with the support of President Vladimir Putin under the auspices of the Federal Agency for Nationalities Affairs (FANA RF). Igor Barinov, head of FANA RF, notes: "The Great Ethnographic Dictation has become an important tradition, uniting millions of people across Russia and beyond in their quest to better understand and appreciate the unique cultural heritage of our multinational country."

Participating is easy: from November 1st to 8th, visit the Ethnodictation website and take a 30-question test. You must answer it in 45 minutes to score a maximum of 100 points. As a result, you'll receive an online or offline certificate, depending on your participation format, and, more importantly, you'll fill in the ethnographic gaps in your personal map of Russian knowledge.

"Exhibits with a weighty history": GUU students visited the Museum of Heroism at VDNKh

Students and staff from the Institute of Marketing at the State University of Management visited the Museum of Heroism at VDNKh, whose exhibition is dedicated to participants in past and present battles.

Third- and fourth-year students majoring in Advertising and Public Relations went on the excursion under the guidance of faculty members: Valery Dovzhik, Deputy Director for Educational Work at the Institute of Management, Galina Dovzhik, Deputy Head of the Advertising and Public Relations Department, Alexandra Timokhovich, Associate Professor of the Advertising and Public Relations Department, and Olga Vasilyeva, Senior Lecturer in the same department.

The museum's three exhibition halls—the Hall of Military Glory, the Hall of Thematic Locations, and the "Warrior's Path" hall—house more than 600 exhibits, including those related to the events of the special military operation.

In the Hall of Military Glory, a recording of the 1945 Victory Parade on Red Square was broadcast on giant interactive screens, accompanied by the voice of the Soviet Union's chief announcer, Yuri Levitan.

In the hall of themed locations, students immersed themselves in the atmosphere of modern frontline life and learned about the exploits of military pilots, marines, artillerymen, and sappers.

The "Warrior's Path" memorial hall presents information about the unique operations of special forces: operations underwater, in the mountains, and in the air.

Students were able to explore the historical chronicle through interactive sets, glass dioramas, and digital screens, creating the effect of complete immersion in military events over the years.

After exploring themed locations and learning about the stories of the heroes of the Great Patriotic War, the students gained a unique immersive experience in a multimedia space, learned about the military potential of their homeland, strengthened their patriotic consciousness, and shared their impressions with us.

Vlada Sudakova (fourth-year student in the "RISSO in Business" program): "In the center of the main hall of the Heroism Museum is a 1:35 scale model of the military action, accurately depicting the terrain and military equipment. Nearby are military personnel's belongings: chevrons, uniforms, and helmets. These are not just paraphernalia, but artifacts of historical memory, capturing the human element in the chronicle of war."

Anna Shorokhova (fourth-year student in the "RISSO in Business" program): "The exhibition hall seemed frozen: the dimly lit figures of fighters towered, fully equipped, armed, and ready to fight to the death. The mannequins don't simply display their uniforms; they create a sense of presence, as if a battle had actually taken place here just a moment ago. On the small second floor, next to the fighters' figures, is a museum collection of weapons: assault rifles and machine guns. All the exhibits are labeled, but each one has a story too powerful to convey in just a few lines."

Tatyana Letunova (fourth-year student, RISSO in Business): "We were unexpectedly and pleasantly surprised: the exhibition display struck us with the meticulous attention to detail with which interactive elements were integrated into the locations. The Museum of Heroism truly takes an innovative approach to covering the events of the Great Patriotic War and modern armed conflicts, allowing us to understand the feelings of the defenders of the Fatherland."

Diana Nesterova, a student at the State University of Management, performed a creative number on Chinese television during a program dedicated to the Mid-Autumn Festival.

The Mid-Autumn Festival, also known as the Moon Festival, is associated with the legend of the moon goddess Chang'e and the family gathering to give thanks for the harvest. It is also celebrated in Japan, Korea, and Vietnam. The 15th day of the eighth lunar month is traditionally celebrated by exchanging gifts, releasing paper lanterns on rivers, and eating mooncakes. The Mid-Autumn Festival is one of the most popular in China, second only to the Chinese New Year in terms of scale. The festival commemorating it is called "Golden Week," and this year it ran from October 1st to 8th, which were public holidays.

Diana Nesterova, a fourth-year undergraduate student at the State University of Management, currently studying in the International Manufacturing Business program jointly with Ningbo University, was invited to represent Russian students on Chinese television in a program dedicated to this major holiday. The Chinese students sang the song "Moscow Nights," and Polina added her choreography.

"I know the Mid-Autumn Festival is very important to the Chinese people. I'm very glad that Russia and China are good friends. I think it's crucial for Russia to learn and understand the meaning of this holiday, as it's such a huge part of Chinese culture. It was a wonderful idea to combine Russian and Chinese cultures in one performance at such a large festival," Diana Nesterov said in an interview with Chinese journalists.

"Our experience is unique": GUU became a prize winner of the All-Russian competition of the best practices of volunteer and social activities in Russian universities

Translation. Region: Russian Federal

An important disclaimer is at the bottom of this article.

The results of the All-Russian competition of the best practices of volunteer and public activities in Russian universities have been summed up. The State University of Management was among the winners.

The aim of the competition is to identify and support best practices in engaging students in volunteering and community service, as well as to recognise mentors and teams who help young people realise their potential.

The competition is being implemented within the framework of the national project “Youth and Children” and the Decree of the President of the Russian Federation No. 309 of May 7, 2024 on national development goals for 2030–2036.

An expert commission was responsible for the honesty and high level of evaluation, which included: – representatives of the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of Russia; – leaders of the largest volunteer and volunteer organizations; – representatives of federal and regional departments; – activists of student associations.

The State University of Management took 2nd place among the best practices in implementing the Service Learning program.

The unique educational methodology "Service Learning" has been implemented at the State University of Management since September 2023. Our university was among the first 20 Moscow universities where this program was launched in pilot mode. To date, 452 students and 28 social partners have been involved in the program, developing 67 socially significant projects and bringing good to over 10,000 beneficiaries.

The vice-rector responsible for the implementation of the program at the State University of Management, Pavel Pavlovsky, spoke about the principles of its work.

"GUU was one of the first universities to launch the Service Learning project. And we quickly realized that the State University of Management is a great platform for organizing inter-university projects. One of these is being implemented jointly with the Russian State Agrarian University – Moscow Agricultural Academy named after K.A. Timiryazev – we inspect cars for large families and give them competent recommendations. Specifically, our students, for example, held sports events for hearing-impaired children. That is, we work both directly on the profile of the federal program and offer platform solutions – this helps us achieve high results. To encourage participation and involvement in the work of the program, competitions with prizes and gifts are held. Not only students, but also students of the Pre-University of GUU participate in the implementation of projects, which makes our experience unique."

The All-Russian competition of the best practices of volunteer and social activities was held in a pilot format, but has already proven that Russian universities have incredible energy, ideas and people who are ready to change the world around them. Now it will become an annual event!

In December, the winners will present their projects at the International Forum on Civic Participation

The list of winners and finalists is in the cards.

Organizers of the Competition: The Ministry of Science and Higher Education of the Russian Federation together with Dobro.rf.
