Astana, Aug. 27 (Xinhua) — Kazakhstan exported 12.6 million liters of beer in the first half of this year, a third more than in the same period last year, the Kursiv portal reported on Wednesday, citing data from the First Credit Bureau.

According to the bureau, this figure was the highest for January-June in the last ten years, starting in 2015.

Russia remains the main market for beer sales. Over the six months, 7.5 million liters of the drink were delivered there, which is 24 percent more than a year earlier. The average price of a liter of Kazakh beer exported to the Russian Federation was about 0.7 US dollars, which is almost half the cost of beer imported by Kazakhstan from countries outside the CIS. It is noted that mainly products of domestic factories are sent abroad, not re-exports.

In addition to Russia, an increase in purchases of Kazakh beer has been recorded in Belarus and Kyrgyzstan.

Earlier, Russian media reported on the interest of local companies in new brands from Kazakhstan, including products from Almaty and Kostanay breweries, which have been certified for entry into the Russian market. –0–

/SCO Summit in Tianjin/ Russian-Style Village in Northeast China

CHANGCHUN, Aug. 27 (Xinhua) — Nanyang, a small village in northeastern China, is a hotbed of fun and unusual dynamics in summer, attracting more and more travelers with its unique Russian style like a magnet.

Nanyang Village, administratively subordinate to Shulan City, Jilin Province, is built in the Russian style and is a symbol of Sino-Russian friendship.

Here, at every step, there is a generous scattering of Russian motifs: from colorful matryoshka dolls lined up in a cheerful round dance of sculptures to themed guest houses. The aroma of freshly baked bread intoxicates the mind, and the shops are bursting with exotic Russian goods. The heart of the village – the Nanyang Village Museum carefully preserves elements of Russian culture: embroidered sarafans, jingling coins, oil paintings and household utensils.

"Since Nanyang donned the Russian garb in 2017, its popularity as a tourist destination has grown by leaps and bounds over the past eight years, with more and more tourists coming here," said Li Jian, head of Nanyang Village.

“You don’t have to fly to the ends of the earth to breathe in the atmosphere of Russian architecture, taste real Russian cuisine and take home a whole bunch of souvenirs with Russian flavor. This trip awakened in me a keen interest in Russian culture,” said Yu Tingjiao, a tourist from Liaoning Province /Northeastern China/. Her post about her trip to Nanyang instantly flew around social networks, collecting thousands of likes from enthusiastic Internet users.

The history of Nanyang, once an unremarkable village, is inextricably intertwined with Russia.

According to local native Chen Xukun, who has been doing business in Russia for many years, most of the villagers in Nanyang have been to Russia and did business there. Over time, many returned, bringing Russian customs and culture with them. They began to develop tourism and catering industries related to the neighboring country, making the village a witness to the friendship between China and Russia.

Step into the Nanyang Village Museum and you will be immersed in a kaleidoscope of stories that tell of the close connection between this land and Russia.

Since the 90s of the last century, many villagers have flocked to Russia to engage in the trade of clothing, footwear and headwear, electronic products, etc. At first, after arriving in a foreign country, they faced difficulties: a language barrier, lack of funds and limited channels for selling goods.

But gradually, integrating into the local culture, adapting to the new rhythm of life, their business grew stronger and flourished. From modest mobile kiosks at wholesale markets, they moved on to stationary stores and warehouses, from a few bundles of goods to batches numbering in hundreds of packages…

In recent years, the natives of Nanyang land who returned from Russia have been diligently transforming their native land, weaving a new thread into the pattern of Sino-Russian friendship with their hard-working hands.

They built guest houses in the Russian style, where gastronomy, comfort and entertainment are intertwined. Here, like an oasis, a children's water playground spreads out, and the roadside walls are decorated with a monumental canvas telling the story of the life and discoveries of the great Russian scientist Dmitri Mendeleyev.

The flow of tourists looking for a colorful holiday is steadily growing, and more and more travelers are looking to spend their weekends here.

To attract even more visitors, local enthusiasts have mastered the art of streaming. “Here you will find exotic buildings, delicious Russian cuisine and fascinating folk performances.”

Inspired by the online broadcast, 78-year-old Liu Guiqin traveled to Nanyang from afar, accompanied by her entire family. And travelers like Ms. Liu Guiqin are becoming more and more common.

In turn, the village of Nanyang becomes a kind of window through which Russians can touch the wealth of Chinese art and culture.

In mid-July, the Chinese-Russian Student Voice Festival 2025 was held in Shulan City with great success, and Nanyang Village was chosen as one of its highlights. At the very entrance to the village, there was a stage on which about 20 young talents from China and Russia shone.

Popular Chinese and Russian songs such as “The Moon Represents My Heart”, “What Kind of Songs Do They Sing in Rus'”, “Never Enough”, “Return” and many others were performed on stage.

The festival also saw great success in paper cutting workshops. The ingenious works of delicately cut paper in the form of Russian nesting dolls, made by Chinese masters of this folk art, caused genuine delight among the guests from Russia.

“I studied Chinese at university. This is my third trip to China, and I learned a lot about the history and culture of this country,” said Ekaterina Igumnova, who performed on the festival stage.

According to Yu Xinlian, a student at Jilin Institute of Arts, Nanyang Village has become a true bridge connecting hearts and facilitating communication between the two peoples. -0-

TEHRAN, Aug. 27 (Xinhua) — Iran and the European "troika" of Germany, France and Britain have agreed to continue contacts in the coming days, the Iranian Foreign Ministry said on Tuesday.

In an interview with state television channel IRIB TV, Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Esmail Baghaei spoke about the results of a meeting of senior diplomats from Iran, the European “troika” and the European Union in Geneva earlier that day.

According to E. Baghaei, during the negotiations, Iran “directly and unambiguously” informed the other parties of its demand for the lifting of sanctions, as well as its nuclear rights.

The Iranian delegation told the Europeans that they had no right to activate the snapback mechanism and restore international sanctions against Tehran, and warned them of the consequences if such a scenario developed, he added.

Commenting on the meeting in a post on the X social media platform, Iran's Deputy Foreign Minister for Legal and International Affairs Kazem Gharibabadi said both sides laid out their views on UN Security Council Resolution 2231, which endorses the 2015 nuclear deal between Iran and world powers.

He said Iran remains committed to diplomacy and finding a mutually beneficial diplomatic solution, stressing that it is time for the European troika and the UN Security Council to make “the right choice and give diplomacy time and space.” –0–

BEIJING, Aug. 27 (Xinhua) — The China Council for the Promotion of International Trade (CCPIT) on Wednesday said it will make efforts to support foreign-invested enterprises in China and take a series of measures to improve services in key areas.

Since the beginning of 2025, CCPIT has received leaders of nearly 100 cross-border companies and sent 274 delegations to 55 countries and regions around the world to strengthen cooperation in industrial and supply chains, spokesperson Wang Guangnan said at a press conference.

The committee is also deepening cooperation through holding major events, including the 3rd China International Supply Chain Exposition (CISCE) held last month, where 35 percent of all participants were from overseas, she said.

To deepen cooperation, the committee held three study tours to regions in China for foreign trade associations and foreign-invested enterprises after the exhibition, and held symposiums on optimizing the business environment, developing the pharmaceutical industry, and localizing production. These efforts have led to several cooperation agreements and prompt responses to the needs of these types of enterprises, Wang Guangnan emphasized.

The spokesperson noted that despite external uncertainties, foreign-invested companies remain committed to expanding their scale in China and have confidence in the Chinese market.

Looking forward, CCPIT will continue to serve as a bridge to promote high-level economic and trade exchanges between China and overseas countries, and help foreign-funded enterprises invest, develop and succeed in China, Wang said. -0-
