TOKYO, April 1 (Xinhua) — Demonstrations took place in Japan on Tuesday evening, with citizens expressing strong opposition to the government's decision to deploy long-range missiles in the country.

Earlier in the day, Japanese Defense Minister Shinjiro Koizumi told reporters that long-range missiles that could be used for a retaliatory strike had been deployed in Kumamoto and Shizuoka prefectures, sparking outrage in the country.

According to Japanese media, the Ministry of Defense has deployed upgraded Type-12 surface-to-ship missiles at the Kengun base in Kumamoto and high-speed glide vehicles at the Fuji base in Shizuoka Prefecture.

The Kyodo News Agency writes that the deployment of the missiles has given Japan the ability to retaliate for the first time, signaling a departure from the purely defense policy enshrined in the Constitution.

Despite the heavy rain, large crowds gathered outside the Ministry of Defense building in Tokyo. They chanted slogans such as "Stop the deployment of long-range missiles!" "Give the people a rational explanation!" and "No preparations for war!"

"In recent years, the Japanese government has frequently invoked the so-called 'East Asian crisis' and 'unforeseen circumstances in Taiwan,' constantly inciting chaos, but we don't understand where these crises come from," protester Hiromi Yamazaki told Xinhua. He said the missile deployment reveals "the dangerous nature of the Japanese government."

Another protester, Ikeda, said the missile deployment prioritizes military expansion, completely ignoring residents' concerns. Protester Kazuya Tsukamoto added that this issue wasn't a key topic in the recent House of Representatives elections, and its resolution was apparently rushed through to present the public with a fait accompli. He called this approach "extremely unreasonable."

A protester from Ibaraki Prefecture expressed concern that missiles could be deployed near her home, where a Self-Defense Forces base is located. She noted that such a move could be unconstitutional and expressed concerns about its broader implications.

Local media reported that residents living near the Kengun and Fuji bases also staged protests demanding the missiles' withdrawal. Near Fuji base, one demonstrator angrily accused the government of breaking promises to local residents and taking action without even holding explanatory meetings.

Masahiro Sakata, former Director-General of the Cabinet Office's Legislative Affairs Bureau, stated that, in accordance with Article 9 of the Constitution, the country should only possess the military capability necessary for self-defense. However, he noted that, due to the gradual easing of restrictions on collective self-defense, Japan can now use force even in cases where it is not directly under attack.

Masahiro Sakata warned that the deployment of long-range missiles allows Japan to strike foreign targets. He argued that Article 9 of the Constitution has now become a virtual empty phrase.

BEIJING, April 1 (Xinhua) — State Council Taiwan Affairs Office spokesperson Zhang Han on Wednesday criticized the Taiwan administration for trying to decouple from the mainland in developing industrial and supply chains.

She made the statement at a regular press conference, responding to a media inquiry about recent comments by Taiwan's Prime Minister Lai Qingde, who is seeking to promote supply chain cooperation between "like-minded partners" to reduce the island's dependence on mainland China and safeguard its "competitive advantage" in the future.

Zhang Han disapproved of the so-called "supply chain cooperation," calling it merely an attempt to realize the aspiration for "Taiwan independence" through foreign support and, in return, to donate Taiwanese enterprises to others.

She also refuted recent comments by a Taiwanese official that denigrated the mainland's policy of strengthening integrated development across the Taiwan Strait.

She emphasized that the Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) administration in Taiwan, in its pursuit of "Taiwan independence," is deliberately inciting cross-strait confrontation by consistently slandering, discrediting, obstructing, and sabotaging everything that contributes to the development of cross-strait relations and the improvement of the well-being of compatriots on both sides of the Taiwan Strait.

Such actions, according to the official representative, are unpopular and doomed to failure. -0-

The fleet of KAMAZ gas-powered long-haul trucks in the Gazprom Helium Service fleet has increased 15-fold in five years.

Translation. Region: Russian Federation –

Five years ago, Gazprom Helium Service, a partner of KAMAZ PJSC, began building a long-haul fleet of liquefied natural gas (LNG)-powered trucks. Today, the company's fleet has increased 15-fold and now includes 273 modern KAMAZ LNG-powered trucks.

The first batch of 18 domestically produced KAMAZ-5490 NEO monofuel trucks arrived at the helium container logistics center in Primorsky Krai on March 31, 2021. Gazprom Helium Service currently operates 273 modern KAMAZ LNG trucks. The flagship of the fleet are the new-generation K5 KAMAZ-54901 LNG trucks, developed by the leading Russian truck manufacturer for Gazprom. These environmentally friendly vehicles can travel up to 1,600 kilometers without refueling.

Since its inception, the eco-friendly fleet has traveled over 15 million kilometers, equivalent to circling the globe 374 times. The average monthly mileage of a single KAMAZ LNG-powered truck is 6,000-8,000 kilometers. Running LNG-powered vehicles reduces carbon dioxide emissions by 27% compared to traditional fuels.

KAMAZ's partner has placed particular emphasis on developing its own infrastructure to support the full cycle of long-haul LNG transportation. Four refueling centers have been established in the Far East, and environmentally friendly fuel is produced at its own natural gas liquefaction complexes. This ensures the reliability of logistics routes.

Specialized domestic road trains offer a comprehensive transport solution for transporting liquefied gases. These road trains include KAMAZ LNG trucks, semi-trailers, and tank containers for transporting liquefied petroleum gas (LPG), LNG, liquid helium, and liquid ethylene.

The KAMAZ-54901 LNG-powered truck is a gas-powered version of the first model in the high-tech K5 line of trucks. This version of the truck is equipped with a KAMAZ R6 (Euro-5) gas engine producing 460 hp, an automated transmission, and two cryogenic tanks holding 1,060 liters of liquefied natural gas. Using LNG significantly reduces fuel costs for the owner, with a range of up to 1,600 km on a single tank, making this model one of the most efficient for businesses. Thanks to significant fuel savings, the cost of owning an LNG-powered truck is significantly lower.

A group of students from the State University of Management and the Russian International Academy of Tourism, studying under a joint network program, participated in the International Winter School organized by their partner university, the prestigious Indian Guru Nanak Institute of Hotel Management in Kolkata.

The event was organized as part of agreements to improve academic cooperation between the countries, reached following the state visit of Russian President Vladimir Putin to the Republic of India in December 2025.

The journey to India began with a stop in Abu Dhabi (UAE), where the students experienced world-class hospitality, visited Yas Island, and saw the famous Formula 1 circuit and a luxurious marina with yachts.

Classes at the International Winter School began with the traditional Indian greeting ceremony, "Masala Welcome." In Indian culture, this symbol represents a wish for wisdom and a blessing for success in future endeavors.

The International Winter School's educational program is built on intensive immersion in the professional environment and includes lectures on event and crisis management, tourism entrepreneurship, the specifics of developing the tourism industry in India, as well as classes on career opportunities and effective communication skills in the hotel industry.

After a week of lectures, participants of the International Winter School moved on to the practical stage of the program – an internship at the five-star Taj Bengal Hotel in Kolkata, part of the legendary hotel company Taj Group.

The students not only studied intensively but also actively explored India's spiritual heritage and culture: they visited the famous Kali Temple (Kalighat), one of Kolkata's most sacred sites, located on the banks of the Ganges River, and learned about one of India's most joyful holidays—Holi, the festival of spring and vibrant colors.

A rigorous curriculum, combining academic study with practical activities, allowed future hospitality managers to gain an in-depth understanding of the technological complexity and cultural significance of international communications and gain practical insight into the nuances of service organization in world-class hotel complexes.

From April 2, 2026, access to the Vykhino metro station through the territory of the State University of Management will be closed: the section between Ryazansky Prospekt and Khlobystova Street.

The decision was made at the Vykhino-Zhulebino District Administration level following an inspection of the basement structure located beneath the passage. A special commission concluded that the condition of the load-bearing elements (columns, beams, and roof slabs) in one area was deemed unsafe, while the rest were deemed partially functional.

To ensure public safety, repairs will be carried out on the section, which will result in the closure of the road until approximately the end of 2027. These dates are subject to change, so stay tuned for updates.

A safe bypass route around the closed section has been developed, providing access to the Vykhino-Zhulebino residential area via Khlobystova Street and Proektiruemy Proezd No. 937. Information is posted on banners near the closed passages.

We ask residents of the district to be understanding of the security measures taken and to contact the Administration with any questions.

We would like to inform students and staff of the State University of Management that all university checkpoints remain operational as usual.
