London, October 25 (Xinhua) — Independent politician Catherine Connolly has won the Irish presidential election and will become the country's tenth president. This was announced on Saturday following official vote results.
The election results showed a landslide victory for Connolly. Her only rival, Heather Humphreys of Fine Gael, officially conceded defeat earlier in the day.
