Pyongyang, October 25 (Xinhua) — Kim Jong Un, General Secretary of the Workers' Party of Korea (WPK) and Chairman of State Affairs of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK), paid tribute to the martyrs of the Chinese People's Volunteers (CPV) by visiting their cemetery in Hoechang County, North North Pyongan Province, on Friday, marking the 75th anniversary of the CPV's entry into North Korea to fight in the War of Resistance Against American Aggression and Aid the Korean People, the Korean Central News Agency (KCNA) reported on Saturday.
During the ceremony, an honor guard of the Korean People's Army formed a line at the cemetery, and the national anthems of the DPRK and China were played. Flower baskets were laid on behalf of Kim Jong-un, as well as on behalf of the Central Committee of the WPK and the State Affairs Commission of the DPRK. Kim Jong-un observed a moment of silence for the fallen volunteers and then visited the grave of Mao Anying, where he paid his respects by laying a flower.
"The faces of the fallen Chinese People's Volunteers, who helped our people in the revolutionary war by shedding their blood in the spirit of internationalism and with a sense of fraternal friendship, will forever remain in the hearts of the peoples of the two countries as a symbol of the precious friendship between the DPRK and China," the KCNA statement said.
“Our people will never forget the blood shed by the outstanding sons and daughters of the Chinese people and their immortal deeds, despite the passage of many years and the change of generations,” writes KCNA.
“The friendship between the DPRK and China, sealed in blood, will convincingly demonstrate its inexhaustible vitality in the sacred struggle to achieve independence against imperialism, as well as for the cause of socialism in the future,” the agency added. –0–
