BEIJING, Oct. 23 (Xinhua) — China's online retail sales showed robust growth in the first nine months of 2025 as the country seeks to expand domestic demand and boost consumption.

According to the Ministry of Commerce of China, online retail sales in the country grew by 9.8 percent year-on-year during the reporting period, with digital products and online services being the key drivers of growth.

In particular, online sales of digital goods such as smartphones and computers increased by 8.3 percent year-on-year, while spending on online services grew by 20.2 percent.

Rural e-commerce also saw steady growth, with online retail sales of agricultural products up 9.6 percent year-on-year in January-September.

Meanwhile, data shows that international cooperation in the e-commerce sector has strengthened, as retail sales of imported goods on the main platforms monitored by the agency increased by 8.3 percent during the reporting period. -0-
