Beirut, October 22 (Xinhua) — US interference in the Middle East has led to "genocide and massacres," Hezbollah leader Naim Qassem said on Tuesday.

As reported by the Al-Manar television channel, associated with the group, N. Qassem, speaking at the book's presentation, stated that the Israeli government's policies "are in the service" of Washington, and that Lebanon "cannot give Israel or America what they want."

"Israel has not achieved and will not achieve its goals," he said, reiterating the group's refusal to disarm and insisting that arms in Hezbollah's hands give Lebanon strength.

N. Qassem accused Israel of violating the ceasefire agreement of November 27, 2024, brokered by the United States and France, and noted: "Follow the agreement. Lebanon has fulfilled it. All maneuvering and pressure are a waste of time."

He said it would be unacceptable for anyone in Lebanon to be "under American command and control."

On Monday, Lebanese Parliament Speaker Nabih Berri said that negotiations between Lebanon and Israel had failed, as Israel rejected an initiative to resume them put forward by US Special Representative for the Middle East Thomas Barrack.

Meanwhile, T. Barrak warned Beirut that hesitation over Hezbollah's disarmament could provoke unilateral action by Israel. –0–
