Paris, Oct. 19 (Xinhua) — Jewelry was stolen from the Louvre Museum in Paris on Sunday morning, French daily Le Parisien reported.

According to the report, masked criminals entered the museum through a building undergoing construction. They used a freight elevator to ascend, smashed windows, and forced their way inside. The perpetrators stole nine items from Napoleon's jewelry collection and are on the run.

French Culture Minister Rachida Dati said on social media that the robbery occurred during the museum's opening on Sunday morning, adding that no injuries were reported.
