Moscow, October 16 (Xinhua) — Representatives of Russia and the United States will immediately begin preparations for a new meeting between Presidents Vladimir Putin and Donald Trump. The summit could take place, for example, in Budapest. This was announced to reporters by Russian presidential aide Yuri Ushakov on Thursday.
"The presidents discussed the possibility of holding another in-person meeting. This is truly a very important moment. It was agreed that representatives of the two countries will immediately begin preparing for a summit, which could be held, for example, in Budapest," said Yury Ushakov after the telephone conversation between the Russian and US presidents.
According to him, the telephone conversation, which lasted approximately two and a half hours, took place at the initiative of the Russian side. The conversation was substantive and extremely frank.
As Yuri Ushakov noted, D. Trump suggested Budapest as a possible location for the summit, and V. Putin supported this idea.
The Russian leader's aide also reported that the presidents discussed the possible supply of Tomahawk missiles to Kyiv by Washington. Vladimir Putin noted that supplying the Kyiv regime with American Tomahawk missiles would damage relations between Russia and the United States, as well as the peaceful resolution of the Ukrainian conflict. Russian troops retain full strategic initiative along the entire line of contact, the Russian president emphasized.
"Donald Trump repeatedly emphasized the need for a swift peace in Ukraine. The idea that the Russian-Ukrainian conflict has proven the most difficult to resolve in all of the US President's peacemaking efforts was evident in his statements throughout the entire conversation," said Yuri Ushakov.
The current conversation between Vladimir Putin and Donald Trump was the eighth since the beginning of the year. The previous conversation took place almost two months ago, a few days after the Russian-American summit in Alaska, USA.
