Beijing, October 16 (Xinhua) — China has noted Pakistan and Afghanistan's decision to establish a temporary ceasefire and seek a solution through constructive dialogue, which is in the common interests of both sides and contributes to maintaining peace and stability in the region. This was stated by Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Lin Jian on Thursday, adding that China welcomes and supports these efforts.
Noting that Pakistan and Afghanistan are neighboring countries and friends of China, Lin Jian stressed that China supports the two countries' aspirations to maintain composure and exercise restraint, achieve a comprehensive and lasting ceasefire, resolve differences through dialogue and consultation, return to the path of political settlement, and jointly maintain peace and stability in both countries and the region as a whole.
China intends to continue to play a constructive role in improving relations between the two countries, the official representative assured.
