URUMQI, Oct. 15 (Xinhua) — The second China-Central Asia Traditional Medicine Forum opened in Urumqi, northwest China's Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region, on Tuesday, bringing together traditional medicine experts and scholars, as well as representatives of medical institutions from China, Tajikistan, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan and Turkmenistan.
The forum, entitled “Commitment to the Right Path, Innovation, Openness and Sharing,” aims to strengthen regional cooperation in the field of traditional medicine and pharmaceuticals, and promote the creative implementation and innovative development of traditional medicine culture.
The forum featured an in-depth exchange of views on traditional medicine under three sub-themes: new productive forces, scientific research, and industrial development, which gave new impetus to deepening cooperation between China and Central Asian countries in the field of traditional medicine.
This forum is one of the important measures to implement the results of the Second China-Central Asia Summit and promote the integration of traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) into the implementation of the Belt and Road Initiative, said Liu Bo, head of the Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region's TCM and Pharmaceutical Administration.
Leading expert of the Xinjiang Hospital of Traditional Chinese Medicine, Shen Baofan, expressed hope at the event that China and Central Asian countries will conduct more multi-level and extensive exchanges in the field of medicine in the future. -0-
