BEIJING, Oct. 15 (Xinhua) — The Chinese mainland has decided to ease entry to the mainland for Taiwan residents, who will be able to obtain entry documents at all checkpoints that meet the necessary conditions, Chen Binhua, spokesperson for the Taiwan Affairs Office of the State Council, said on Wednesday.
Speaking at a regular press conference, he noted that this step is aimed at further expanding openness and making travel more convenient and safe for Taiwanese compatriots.
According to the plan, Taiwanese residents will be able to apply for a one-time entry permit upon arrival at any designated entry point, regardless of whether they arrived directly from Taiwan or via Hong Kong, Macao, or from other countries. According to the official representative, detailed information on the new measure and a list of entry points will be published by the relevant authorities in due course.
Chen Binhua emphasized that the new rule should help facilitate exchanges and cooperation between the two sides of the Taiwan Strait, as well as promote the peaceful and integrated development of cross-strait relations. -0-
