ROME, Oct. 14 (Xinhua) — The 2025 World Food Forum (WFF), marking the organization's 80th anniversary, opened at the headquarters of the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) in Rome on Monday.

The week-long forum is being held under the slogan "Hand in Hand – for Better Food and a Better Future." The event brought together world leaders, ministers, and thousands of delegates from various sectors. They will participate in high-level dialogues, exhibitions, and youth initiatives aimed at transforming global agrifood systems in the face of growing challenges posed by climate change, conflict, and biodiversity loss.

“Food is life, culture, and a fundamental human right,” said FAO Director-General Qu Dongyu at the opening of the forum, reflecting on the organization’s eighty years of leadership in the fight against hunger.

He warned that 673 million people worldwide still suffer from hunger and 2.3 billion people from food insecurity.

Founded in 1945, FAO leads international efforts to fight hunger, improve nutrition and food security.

Since its inaugural edition in 2021, the Forum has grown into a major platform bringing together governments, scientists, investors, and young leaders across three key areas: Youth, Science and Innovation, and Investment. –0–
