BEIJING, Oct. 14 (Xinhua) — Chinese State Councilor and Chairperson of the All-China Women's Federation Shen Yiqin met separately on Monday with Teresa Amarelle, Secretary General of the Federation of Cuban Women, and UN Under-Secretary-General and Executive Director of UN Women Sima Bacchus.
T. Amarelle and S. Bacchus are in Beijing to participate in the Global Women's Summit.
At the meeting with T. Amarelle, Shen Yiqin stated that China is ready to cooperate with the Cuban side in implementing the important consensus reached by the heads of state of the two countries, deepen cooperation in various fields, including women's affairs, and jointly promote the development of global women's affairs.
T. Amarelle, who is also a member of the Politburo of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba, praised China's achievements in women's affairs and expressed active support for the implementation of the results of the current Global Summit of Women.
During her meeting with Sima Bacchus, Shen Yiqin said China is willing to work closely with UN Women to jointly implement the outcomes of the Global Summit for Women and promote gender equality and the comprehensive development of women's affairs.
