HANGZHOU, Oct. 11 (Xinhua) — Chinese Vice Premier Zhang Guoqing called for further efforts to promote the growth of enterprises that use specialized and sophisticated technologies to produce innovative and unique products.

Zhang Guoqing, also a member of the Politburo of the CPC Central Committee, made the call during an inspection tour of Zhejiang Province in eastern China from October 9 to 11.

In Ningbo, Zhang Guoqing visited several enterprises of this kind, covering the sectors of all-solid-state batteries for new energy vehicles, optical instruments and components, and vertical industrial models, and learned in detail about their R&D, production and operations, as well as their efforts in transformation and high-quality upgrading.

He noted that enterprises using specialized and complex technologies to produce innovative and unique products are a vital force in increasing production capacity and developing new-quality productive forces, and it is necessary to support their efforts to implement technological innovations and invest in R&D.

Zhang Guoqing also added that efforts must be made to accelerate digital and intelligent transformation and promote the adoption of new technologies such as artificial intelligence in R&D planning, product manufacturing, and process optimization.

During his stay in Zhejiang Province, the Chinese vice premier also toured a petrochemical base in Zhoushan, where he learned about measures to improve occupational safety and modernize chemical industrial parks.

He stressed the need to strengthen inspections of major hazard sources and key facilities, identify problems early, accelerate the elimination and modernization of obsolete chemical industry equipment, and improve the safety of chemical plants.
