XIAMEN, Oct. 11 (Xinhua) — The Xiamen City Public Security Bureau in east China's Fujian Province on Saturday announced a reward for information on the illegal activities of 18 key members of the Taiwanese military's "psychological warfare unit," including a member named Yan Jiahong.
According to the police investigation, the unit consists of six squads engaged in activities such as disinformation, intelligence gathering, tactical psychological warfare, broadcast propaganda and mobilization.
They launched websites to conduct smear campaigns, committed incitement to incite separatism, produced fake videos to mislead audiences, operated illegal radio stations to infiltrate, and manipulated public opinion with the help of external forces, all aimed at promoting absurd notions of "Taiwan independence" and inciting separatism, the police statement said.
Police called on Taiwanese residents to recognize the extreme danger of "Taiwan independence," distance themselves from separatist forces through concrete actions, actively provide information about their illegal activities, and work with their compatriots on the mainland to resist the separatist actions of "Taiwan independence" supporters.
