New York, October 10 (Xinhua) — Several people were killed and several others are missing in an explosion that occurred Friday morning at a military explosives manufacturing facility in the US state of Tennessee, officials told local media.
Humphreys County Sheriff Chris Davis said at a press conference on Friday that the explosion occurred around 7:45 a.m. local time (12:45 p.m. GMT). "We can confirm there are fatalities," Davis said.
Hickman County Mayor Jim Bates told ABC News that at least 13 people are missing.
Accurate Energetic Systems, a Tennessee company southwest of Nashville, specializes in the production of military-grade explosives, the Humphreys County Sheriff's Office told CNN.
