LIMA, Oct. 10 (Xinhua) — Peruvian Congress (Parliament) President José Jeri was sworn in as President of the Republic on Friday after Congress voted to impeach President Dina Boluarte.
Parliamentarians demanded that D. Boluarte personally attend a congressional session and testify in her defense before the impeachment vote on the evening of October 9. However, she did not appear, and shortly thereafter, Congress voted to remove her.
