BEIJING, Oct. 10 (Xinhua) — China will send another flotilla to the Gulf of Aden and Somali territorial waters in mid-October to escort civilian ships, Defense Ministry spokesman Jiang Bin announced Friday.

The 48th flotilla of the People's Liberation Army Navy (PLA) will include the guided missile destroyer Tangshan, the guided missile frigate Daqing, and the integrated supply ship Taihu, he specified.

The convoy flotilla, he said, will, through concrete actions, implement the concept of a maritime community with a shared destiny, ensure the security of international sea routes, and protect peace and stability in the region.

China sent its first flotilla to the Gulf of Aden and Somali territorial waters to carry out escort missions for passing ships in December 2008. -0-
