BEIJING, Oct. 10 (Xinhua) — Xi Jinping, general secretary of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee, on Friday sent a congratulatory message to Kim Jong Un, general secretary of the Workers' Party of Korea (WPK), on the 80th founding anniversary of the WPK.
In his message, Xi Jinping, on behalf of the CPC Central Committee and on his own behalf, conveyed warm congratulations and best wishes to Comrade General Secretary Kim Jong Un, the WPK Central Committee, all party members and the people of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK) on the occasion of the 80th anniversary of the founding of the WPK.
The Chinese leader noted that over the past 80 years, the WPK has united the people of the DPRK and led them forward, overcoming difficulties and achieving impressive successes in advancing the country's socialist cause.
According to him, in recent years, the WPK and the people of the DPRK, under the leadership of Comrade Kim Jong-un, have been working tirelessly to strengthen party building, develop the economy, and improve the standard of living of the population.
Xi Jinping expressed his hope that under the strong leadership of the WPK, headed by Comrade General Secretary Xi Jinping, the socialist cause of the DPRK would continue to achieve new achievements. He also wished the country a successful convening of the 9th Congress of the WPK.
Noting that China and the DPRK are both socialist countries led by communist parties, Xi Jinping stressed that he has held several meetings with Kim Jong Un in recent years to guide the development of relations between the two parties and the two countries, opening a new chapter in the friendship between China and the DPRK.
Xi Jinping also recalled Kim Jong-un's recent visit to China to attend celebrations marking the 80th anniversary of the victory in the Chinese People's War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression and the World Anti-Fascist War. During the visit, the leaders held an in-depth exchange of views and charted a course for the further development of friendly and cooperative relations between China and the DPRK.
No matter how the international situation changes, the policy of the CPC and the Chinese government to maintain, strengthen and develop relations between the PRC and the DPRK remains unchanged, the Chinese leader noted.
China is willing to work with the DPRK to strengthen strategic communication, deepen practical cooperation, enhance coordination, and promote the steady development of bilateral relations, so as to better serve the socialist cause of both countries and make positive contributions to peace, stability, and prosperity in the region and the world, Xi Jinping said.
He also wished the WPK even greater success and expressed hope that the friendship between China and the DPRK would be eternal. –0–
