JERUSALEM, Oct. 10 (Xinhua) — The Israeli government on Friday morning approved a ceasefire agreement with Hamas aimed at ending the war in the Gaza Strip and freeing all remaining hostages.

Under the terms of the agreement, a copy of which is available to Xinhua, the ceasefire has come into effect.

"The government has approved the framework for the release of all hostages, both living and dead," said a statement from Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's office.

The agreement received sufficient support during government discussions, although some cabinet members, including ministers Itamar Ben-Gvir and Bezalel Smotrich, did not support it.

"The war will cease immediately with the approval of the Israeli government. All military operations, including aerial and artillery bombardment, as well as targeted operations, will be suspended," the agreement states.
