Minsk, October 10 (Xinhua) — Belarusian Defense Minister Viktor Khrenin and Chief of the General Staff of the United Arab Emirates (UAE) Armed Forces Issa Saif Almazrouei held talks on military cooperation here on Thursday, the Belarusian Defense Ministry press service reported.
During the meeting, V. Khrenin noted the significant potential for bilateral military relations. He stated that the first meeting of the joint Belarusian-UAE interdepartmental commission on military cooperation was held in 2025, and a bilateral military cooperation plan was signed for the first time, outlining activities in areas of mutual interest.
"If the Emirati side is interested, such events could include training UAE military personnel at the Belarusian Military Academy on courses of interest. Joint exercises in various areas, competitions between military personnel, and cultural events could also be a significant step in enhancing our cooperation," the minister said.
In turn, I.S. Almazrui expressed interest in military cooperation in a number of areas and noted that Belarus supports the UAE in its peace initiatives.
Following the meeting, the parties outlined ways to further develop relations and agreed to develop dialogue at the expert level. –0–
