BEIJING, Oct. 9 (Xinhua) — China and India will resume direct flights by the end of October this year, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Guo Jiakun confirmed on Thursday.
This is a new result of the two sides' efforts to implement the important consensus reached by Chinese President Xi Jinping and Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi during their meeting in Tianjin on August 31, Guo Jiakun said at a regular press conference.
It is also a positive step to promote friendly exchanges between the Chinese and Indian peoples, who together number more than 2.8 billion, he added.
China is willing to work with India to view and develop bilateral relations from a strategic perspective and a long-term perspective, become good-neighborly and friendly friends and partners who contribute to each other's success, bring greater benefits to the peoples of the two countries, and make due contributions to peace and prosperity in Asia and the world, Guo Jiakun concluded. -0-
