Kyiv, October 7 (Xinhua) — On Tuesday night, Russia launched a massive attack on energy and railway infrastructure in Ukraine's Poltava and Sumy regions. Deputy Prime Minister for Reconstruction and Minister of Communities and Territories Development Oleksiy Kuleba announced this on Facebook.
In the Poltava region in the central part of the country, a locomotive depot, power supply network, traction substations, administrative and storage buildings, and rolling stock were reportedly hit by shelling. Several trains were temporarily suspended.
According to the Deputy Prime Minister, in the city of Sumy, the administrative center of the Sumy region in northeastern Ukraine, residential buildings were damaged by shelling, and part of the city was without power.
The Ukrainian Air Force, for its part, reported on Telegram that on Tuesday night, Russia fired a total of two missiles and 152 unmanned aerial vehicles of various types at Ukrainian territory. By 9:00 a.m. Kyiv time, 88 drones had been shot down or suppressed. Two missiles and 52 attack drones were recorded hitting ten locations.
