From January to August 2025, the industrial production index for manufacturing in the capital increased by 5.7 percent compared to the same period last year. The fastest-growing sectors were clothing, textiles, chemicals, pharmaceuticals, and electrical equipment, according to the Deputy Mayor of Moscow for Transport and Industry. Maxim Liksutov.
"Following Sergei Sobyanin's instructions, the city is actively stimulating the development of the industrial sector. More than 20 financial and non-financial support instruments are available to Moscow-based companies, ranging from preferential investment loans and offset contracts to the localization of high-tech companies in the Technopolis Moscow SEZ. Thanks to this, the industrial production index in the manufacturing sector increased by 5.7 percent from January to August 2025 compared to the same period last year," said Maxim Liksutov.
The capital is home to nearly 4,600 enterprises, employing approximately 755,000 people. Every year, 150 technology companies open in the city, implement dozens of investment projects, and develop and launch new systems, devices, and pharmaceuticals into mass production.
"Based on the results of the first eight months of this year, the leaders in terms of output growth were manufacturers of pharmaceutical substances, electronic and optical products, chemicals and food products, as well as Moscow companies that produce clothing," noted the Minister of the Moscow Government and head of the Moscow Department of Investment and Industrial Policy.
In 2017, Moscow Industry Day was established at the initiative of Sergei Sobyanin. It is celebrated annually on October 7th. The capital hosts a celebratory concert and awards ceremony for leading industrial enterprises.
