KUALA LUMPUR, Oct. 7 (Xinhua) — Malaysia will continue to deepen cooperation with Pakistan in several key sectors, including food security, aviation, healthcare and cybersecurity, the two leaders said.

Cooperation between the two countries has significantly strengthened thanks to high-level visits, according to a joint statement by Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim and his Pakistani counterpart Shahbaz Sharif, who is in Malaysia on a three-day official visit.

“Both leaders recognized the importance of sustainable agricultural practices and agreed to conduct joint research, innovation and development of sustainable agricultural production methods,” the statement said.

"Malaysia expressed its intention to expand palm oil exports to Pakistan in line with growing demand in Pakistan's food and processing industries. Both leaders agreed to ensure a stable and sustainable supply chain while adhering to environmentally responsible practices," the statement read.

Recognizing the importance of aviation in promoting connectivity and developing people-to-people exchanges, the two leaders agreed to improve air transport services and explore opportunities to expand air connectivity between Malaysia and Pakistan.

The two leaders also pledged to intensify cooperation in addressing regional and global issues, emphasizing that disputes should be resolved peacefully in accordance with international law.
