Cairo, Oct. 6 (Xinhua) — A delegation from the Palestinian Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas) arrived in Egypt on Sunday to prepare for talks with the Egyptian side in the Red Sea city of Sharm el-Sheikh on Monday, Egyptian sources told Xinhua.

The two sides will hold talks to implement the first phase of US President Donald Trump's Gaza ceasefire plan, according to informed sources.

The talks will focus on the details of implementing the first phase of the plan, sources told Xinhua, adding that key points of discussion are expected to include a prisoner exchange mechanism between Hamas and Israel, as well as the process for transferring its weapons to Hamas.

Following the meeting with Hamas, the Egyptian side will hold a separate meeting with the Israeli delegation. Sources said the results of both talks will be conveyed to US Special Envoy for the Middle East Steven Witkoff and Donald Trump's son-in-law Jared Kushner upon their arrival in Egypt.

Egypt's Foreign Ministry on Saturday confirmed talks between Israeli and Hamas delegations will take place on Monday to discuss "field conditions and details" of an exchange of "all Israeli detainees and Palestinian prisoners" in accordance with the US-proposed 20-point plan.
