Doha, Oct. 4 (Xinhua) — Qatar on Saturday expressed satisfaction that Hamas has accepted US President Donald Trump's peace plan and expressed its readiness to release all hostages.
“We also reiterate our support for the President’s statements calling for an immediate ceasefire to facilitate the safe and swift release of the hostages and to achieve swift results that will end the shedding of Palestinian blood in the Gaza Strip,” Qatari Foreign Ministry spokesman Majid bin Mohammed al-Ansari wrote on social media.
He added that the emirate had begun cooperating with Egypt in coordination with the United States to continue discussing the plan and provide a path to ending the conflict.
The 20-point US plan includes a ceasefire in exchange for the release of hostages, a phased Israeli withdrawal from the Gaza Strip, and international oversight of post-war reconstruction and governance in the Palestinian enclave.
