BEIJING, Oct. 4 (Xinhua) — Chinese President Xi Jinping and Bangladesh President Mohammed Shahbuddin exchanged congratulations on Saturday on the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic ties between the two countries.

In his message, Xi Jinping noted that China and Bangladesh are traditional friendly neighbors with a long history of exchanges.

According to him, over the 50 years since the establishment of diplomatic relations, no matter how the situation in the region and the world has changed, China and Bangladesh have always maintained friendly relations based on the Five Principles of Peaceful Coexistence, setting an example of mutual respect, equality and mutually beneficial cooperation between the countries.

Xi Jinping noted that in recent years, China and Bangladesh have continued to strengthen political mutual trust, expand high-quality cooperation under the Belt and Road Initiative and practical cooperation in various fields, and deepen their comprehensive strategic cooperative partnership.

The Chinese President emphasized that he attaches great importance to relations with Bangladesh and is ready to work with M. On the same day, Premier of the State Council of the People's Republic of China Li Qiang and Chief Adviser to the Interim Government of Bangladesh Muhammad Yunus exchanged congratulatory messages.

Li Qiang said that China highly values the development of China-Bangladesh relations and is willing to work with Bangladesh to take the 50th anniversary as an opportunity to accelerate high-quality cooperation within the Belt and Road Initiative and cooperation in various fields, and promote the further growth of the China-Bangladesh comprehensive strategic cooperative partnership.
