Vladivostok, October 4 (Xinhua) — Ash plumes reaching a height of up to 9.2 kilometers were recorded from the Kronotsky Volcano in Kamchatka on the afternoon of October 4. This was reported on Saturday on the Telegram channel of the Main Directorate of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of Russia for Kamchatka Krai.

According to the report, the ash plume has spread southeast from the volcano into the waters of Kronotsky Bay. There are no populated areas along the ash plume's path. Kronotsky Volcano has been assigned a "red" aviation hazard classification.

The volcano is located 225 kilometers from Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky and 10 kilometers east of Lake Kronotskoye. Its height is 3,528 meters. –0–
