BEIJING, Sept. 30 (Xinhua) — China's outstanding external debt stood at approximately $2.44 trillion as of the end of June 2025, according to data released Tuesday by the State Administration of Foreign Exchange.
Deputy head of the department Li Bin reported that this figure decreased by 0.6 percent compared to the end of March.
He noted that China's external debt situation and its scale remained generally stable.
According to the State Administration, the share of yuan-denominated debt amounted to 52.1% of total external debt, unchanged from the end of March. However, the share of medium- and long-term debt increased to 42.4%, up 0.2 percentage points from three months earlier.
It also became known that in the first half of 2025, China recorded a current account surplus of $294.1 billion and a capital and financial account deficit of $277.6 billion. –0–
