UNITED NATIONS, Sept. 29 (Xinhua) — The general debate of the 80th session of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) concluded on Monday.
In her closing remarks, UN General Assembly President Annalena Baerbock stated that representatives of 189 UN Member States, including 124 heads of state and government, took the floor during the general debate.
"Earlier this week, we spoke of the United Nations as a house of diplomacy and dialogue at a crossroads, a place where we gather to talk about difficult topics in difficult times," she noted. "If this high-level week is any indication, then… the UN remains relevant."
According to A. Baerbock, there were moments throughout the week when Member States felt a collective will to do better, to move forward, to choose the right path at a crossroads.
"This week has shown that we are capable of finding the will for shared leadership, collective solutions, and the right choices at crossroads," the General Assembly President noted. "Let us draw inspiration from the legacy of our past and boldly strive for a better future that will come if we stand together. Fearless. Unbroken. United." –0–
