Sydney, Sept. 30 (Xinhua) — The 76th International Astronautical Congress (IAC 2025) opened in Sydney on Monday, bringing together thousands of space professionals, decision makers, scientists, industry leaders, astronauts and students from around the world.
The five-day event, themed "Sustainable Space: Sustainable Earth," will provide a global platform for fostering dialogue, collaboration, and innovation in space solutions for Earth and beyond, organizers of the event, the International Astronautical Federation (IAF), announced in a press release.
At the opening ceremony of the event, the IAF World Space Award 2025 in the team category was presented to the team of China's Chang'e-6 spacecraft.
During the ceremony, IAF President Clay Mowry announced that the event will feature more than 40 panel sessions on themes, approximately 200 technical sessions and approximately 200 booths on the exhibition floor.
Bian Zhigang, deputy head of the China National Space Administration, said at the IAC 2025 plenary session that China attaches great importance to combating climate change through space technology and is willing to make every effort to build a sustainable Earth together with international partners.
