Minsk, September 30 (Xinhua) — The International Industrial Exhibition "INNOPROM. Belarus" opened here on Monday. This is the first time the event has been held in Belarus. The exhibition features such sectors as mechanical engineering and components, metallurgy and materials, the chemical industry, industrial automation technologies, and industrial services.
Over 510 companies are participating in the exhibition, including more than 290 from 23 regions of Russia, more than 190 from Belarus, and more than 30 companies from Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, and Uzbekistan.
During the main plenary session of the event, "Union of New Technologies: Creating the Industry of the Future," Belarusian Prime Minister Alexander Turchin noted that over the past 15 years, the exhibition has become a key platform for developing strategic directions for industrial development in the Eurasian region. He also noted that Belarus possesses significant industrial and intellectual potential. The country's industrial complex accounts for almost a third of GDP and three-quarters of exports.
"Over the four years of the current five-year plan, Belarus's industry has grown by more than 14 percent. This includes mechanical engineering, which has grown by almost 1.5 times, and the production of computing, electronic, and optical equipment, which has grown by 2.5 times. However, this year, industrial growth is slowing, which further underscores the need for a comprehensive, all-encompassing approach to long-term development," BELTA quoted him as saying.
A. Turchin also emphasized that achieving technological sovereignty alone is a difficult task. "We consider it important to work together to synchronize and combine efforts with our strategic partners," he emphasized.
According to him, Belarus, with China's assistance, is consistently implementing a new model of applied cooperation and is transitioning to a strategy of joint technological development and industrial and investment cooperation. Currently, approximately 60 projects are being implemented in Belarus with the participation of Chinese partners, with a total announced investment of approximately $1.6 billion. With the participation of Chinese partners, the country is currently producing gearboxes, engines, truck cranes, passenger cars, and supercapacitors for electric buses.
The International Industrial Exhibition "INNOPROM. Belarus" will be held in Minsk from September 29 to October 1, 2025. The total exhibition area is more than 20,000 square meters, including an outdoor area for demonstrating large-scale equipment.
