BEIJING, September 29 (Xinhua) — China urges the United States to immediately correct its misguided actions and stop unjustified pressure on Chinese enterprises, a spokesperson for the Chinese Ministry of Commerce said on Monday.

The official representative made the statement in response to a request for comment on the announcement that the US Department of Commerce has adopted a new rule that extends export restrictions under the sanctions list to subsidiaries that are at least 50 percent owned by listed companies.

This rule is yet another example of the United States overly broadly interpreting the concept of national security and abusing export control measures, the Commerce Department representative emphasized, adding that it will seriously violate the legitimate rights and interests of the affected enterprises.

According to him, the US actions will seriously damage the international trade and economic order, as well as the security and stability of global supply chains. China firmly opposes this move and will take the necessary measures to resolutely protect the legitimate rights and interests of Chinese enterprises, the official representative promised.
