On September 27, Russia celebrates a professional holiday: Day of the Teacher and All Workers in the Preschool Education System. This day is intended to highlight the immense importance of the work of those who lay the foundations of a child's personality and help them take their first steps into the world of knowledge. Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Chernyshenko and Minister of Education Sergei Kravtsov congratulated Russian teachers on this professional holiday.
"Our President, Vladimir Vladimirovich Putin, has repeatedly emphasized the important role of education in the development of individuals and society. Today, over 637,000 teachers work in Russia's preschool education system. These are incredibly responsible, caring, and attentive people who instill traditional values in our children and foster a continued interest in learning and exploring the world. I thank each of them for their contribution to shaping our future—the younger generation. And congratulations on your professional holiday! I wish you responsive students and parents, bright ideas, an inexhaustible passion for your work, and as many reasons as possible for joy in each day," the Deputy Prime Minister noted.
Dmitry Chernyshenko added that the "Teachers and Mentors" federal project, part of the "Youth and Children" national project, includes a range of support measures aimed at enhancing professional status and creating comfortable working conditions.
The Deputy Prime Minister reported that there are more than 32,000 independent kindergartens and over 44,000 organizations implementing preschool education programs in the country.
The industry's human resources potential is impressive in its diversity and professionalism.
"The profession of a teacher requires not only the highest level of professionalism but also boundless generosity of spirit. We place special emphasis on creating conditions for the continuous professional growth of preschool teachers. One of our most important tasks is to provide them with all the necessary resources and teaching materials to ensure that their work in kindergarten is modern, engaging, and effective," added Minister of Education Sergey Kravtsov.
Professional excellence competitions are an important tool for enhancing the prestige of the profession and disseminating best practices. These competitions identify talented teachers and innovators in their field, and provide an opportunity for the entire professional community to adopt best practices. The main competition in the preschool education system is "Teacher of the Year in Russia."
Educator's and All Preschool Workers' Day has been celebrated in Russia since 2004. The date of September 27 was chosen for a reason: on this day in 1863, the first kindergarten in Russia opened in St. Petersburg.
