BEIJING, Sept. 29 (Xinhua) — China's Ministry of Industry and Information Technology on Monday announced it has granted China Mobile a license to operate satellite mobile communications services.
This means that all three major Chinese mobile operators – China Mobile, China Telecom and China Unicom – now have licenses to provide satellite mobile services covering application scenarios such as emergency communications, maritime communications and communications in remote areas.
The aforementioned ministry expects that a market characterized by moderate competition and favorable interactions will emerge in China, which will make satellite mobile communications services more accessible to ordinary consumers.
The ministry promised to further optimize market access procedures for satellite communications, strengthen supervision and security in the industry, and promote the high-quality development of China's satellite communications industry. -0-
