HANGZHOU, Sept. 29 (Xinhua) — China on Monday commissioned the world's largest centrifuge, capable of creating hypergravity up to 300 times greater than Earth's gravity.

The facility, codenamed CHIEF1300, is one of the key components of a centrifuge complex being built in Hangzhou, capital of Zhejiang Province, eastern China, to create hypergravity and conduct interdisciplinary experiments.

It can be used for advanced research in areas such as deep-sea and deep-sea resource extraction, disaster mitigation and prevention, underground waste management, and the synthesis of new materials. -0-
