Beijing, September 28 (Xinhua) — An online meeting on the cooperation mechanism for consumer protection in cross-border purchases between Heihe and Blagoveshchensk was held recently in Heihe, northeast China's Heilongjiang Province, marking the official establishment of such a mechanism between the two cities, the Heihe Daily newspaper reported.
As noted at the meeting, since the introduction of visa-free travel between China and Russia, and with the deepening of trade, economic, tourism, and human exchanges between the two countries, cross-border consumption has demonstrated growing momentum. The creation of a joint and effective mechanism for consumer protection has become a common need.
The formal establishment of such a mechanism will help create trend-setting cross-border consumption zones and tourism clusters capable of effectively protecting the legitimate rights and interests of consumers in both countries, thereby providing new impetus for promoting economic prosperity and overall development, the meeting emphasized.
