Moscow, September 27 (Xinhua) — A gala reception to mark the 76th anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China and the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Russia was held on Friday at the Chinese Embassy in Moscow. More than 1,500 guests were invited to the event, including politicians, entrepreneurs, public figures, cultural figures, and experts.
Addressing the audience, Chinese Ambassador to the Russian Federation Zhang Hanhui noted that, in historical terms, 76 years is a moment in time, but for the Chinese people, these have been years of monumental change that have radically transformed the country.
"Under the leadership of the Communist Party, China has made an astonishing leap from a backward state to one of the world's leading powers, achieving economic growth unprecedented in human history. Today, China is the world's second-largest economy, the largest manufacturer, a leading trading nation, and the second-largest consumer market on the planet. It remains a vital driver and stabilizing force for the global economy," the diplomat said.
Speaking about Chinese-Russian relations, the ambassador emphasized that they have stood the test of time and have acquired the "stability of a rock." "Under the strategic leadership of our heads of state, Chinese-Russian relations have maintained their rapid development momentum and are experiencing the best period in their history. Political trust and strategic interaction are deepening, cooperation in all areas is actively developing, and the social foundation of friendship, passed down from generation to generation, is strengthening," Zhang Hanhui stated, adding that on the international stage, China and Russia are setting an example of great power relations based on good-neighborliness, friendship, a comprehensive partnership, and mutual benefit.
In his speech, Ivan Melnikov, First Deputy Chairman of the State Duma of the Russian Federation and Chairman of the Russian-Chinese Friendship Society (RCFS), praised China's achievements over the past decades: from industrial modernization to an economy based on new-generation productive forces, from large-scale infrastructure projects to leadership in high technology.
According to the Russian politician, the 76th anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China and the establishment of diplomatic relations between Russia and China once again reminds us how, step by step, the countries built cooperation and how confidently they are today opening up new avenues of collaboration.
"For us, China has become not just a large neighbor, but a key partner and a true friend. This friendship is also bound by sacred dates. In both Russia and China, in the year of the 80th anniversary of the Great Victory, the peoples remain true to historical memory and truth," he said, emphasizing that trust, practical projects, and respect for history make countries stronger.
A festive concert was held for guests of the Chinese Embassy. They were also able to view the photo exhibition "A New Chapter in the History of Beautiful Xizang," dedicated to the development achievements of the Xizang Autonomous Region of China over the 60 years since its founding. The exhibition was organized by the Xinhua Asia-European Bureau and China Image Group with the support of the Chinese Embassy in Russia.
