JIUQUAN, Sept. 27 (Xinhua) — China successfully launched the Fengyun-3 08 satellite into space from the Jiuquan Satellite Launch Center in northwest China on Saturday.

The Fengyun-3 08 satellite was launched by the Long March-4C carrier rocket at 3:28 a.m. Beijing time and successfully entered its planned orbit.

The satellite, equipped with nine remote sensing instruments, including a medium-resolution imaging spectrometer and a microwave imager, will primarily be used for monitoring and research activities in the fields of weather forecasting, atmospheric chemistry and climate change, according to the China National Space Administration (CNSA).

This launch was the 596th for the Long March series of carrier rockets. -0-
