The 21st plenary session of the Intergovernmental Commission on Economic Cooperation between the Russian Federation and the Republic of Tajikistan was held in Moscow, chaired by Deputy Prime Minister of the Russian Federation Marat Khusnullin and Prime Minister of Tajikistan Kokhir Rasulzoda.
At the beginning of the meeting, Marat Khusnullin thanked his colleagues for their active collaboration on multilateral international platforms, primarily the Commonwealth of Independent States, the Shanghai Cooperation Organization, and the Collective Security Treaty Organization, and noted that strengthening these ties is an absolute priority for Russia.
"Russia and Tajikistan are steadily developing their strategic partnership and alliance. Our cooperation is steadily growing in many areas. This is confirmed by the frequent contacts between our leaders, Vladimir Putin and Emomali Rahmon. Cooperation is expanding in business, small and medium-sized businesses, culture, education, and sports; tourism is strengthening; food exports and imports, as well as trade, are growing. A roadmap for cooperation in the transport sector for 2025–2030 has been prepared. Within the framework of the intergovernmental commission, we are actively working with our colleagues in all areas. I thank Kokhir Rasulzoda and the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan for their collaboration on all issues. We intend to further expand our cooperation and share positive experiences," said Marat Khusnullin.
In turn, Tajik Prime Minister Kokhir Rasulzoda thanked Marat Khusnullin and the Russian Government for their continued attention to the development of Russian-Tajik cooperation and prompt response to emerging issues.
"President of the Republic of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon has repeatedly noted that the comprehensive development of relations between the Russian Federation and the Republic of Tajikistan is a key and strategically important priority of the republic's foreign policy. At the meeting, we discussed in detail the parameters for further work within the intergovernmental commission. I would like to note that all the agreements signed at the previous meeting are yielding tangible results. Thanks to the efforts of both sides, indicators in various areas are improving. Furthermore, there are great prospects in the economic, agricultural, energy, investment, and other areas. I would like to emphasize the Government of Tajikistan's firm commitment to further strengthening mutually beneficial strategic cooperation with the Russian Federation. We highly value our friendship and multifaceted cooperation with Russia and look forward to continuing our fruitful work in all key areas. I thank all members of the commission for their productive work," noted Kokhir Rasulzoda.
During the meeting, a number of agreements were signed by the intergovernmental commission. These included a protocol on joint activities of the Intergovernmental Commission on Economic Cooperation between the Russian Federation and the Republic of Tajikistan, as well as an action plan for the implementation of the economic cooperation program between the Government of the Russian Federation and the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan for 2025–2027.
