The State University of Management held a ceremonial opening of the new season of the Service-Learning program, presenting the results of previous years and outlining future development vectors.
The meeting was opened by Deputy Minister of Science and Higher Education Olga Petrova, who spoke about the program's implementation in Russia.
"The Service-Learning program is an important element of our systematic efforts to achieve youth policy goals and engage students in volunteer and community service. Many students, from their first year, want to not only gain theoretical knowledge but also apply it in practice. The project gives them the opportunity to test their skills, implement their ideas, and showcase their talents. Ultimately, these opportunities spark and sustain students' interest in self-development and self-realization throughout their years at the university," noted Olga Petrova.
Vladimir Stroev, Rector of the State University of Management, also delivered a welcoming speech:
"Our university was among the first to launch the program back in September 2023. Over the past two years, 67 social projects have been implemented for over 1,000 beneficiaries, and cooperation agreements have been signed with non-profit and public organizations in several regions of Russia. As a result of our systematic work, SUM took second place in the All-Russian Best Practices Competition, and by the end of the first quarter of this year, we were the leader in verifying social objectives. A number of cooperation agreements have been signed with major organizations. We intend to continue working and improving in this area."
Pavel Pavlovsky, Vice-Rector of the State University of Management, emphasized the importance of "Service Learning" for the country as a whole and for each participant in particular, noting that during the projects, students gain practical experience, which increases their competitiveness in the labor market. The Vice-Rector also signed cooperation agreements with the heads of several public organizations that have decided to partner with the State University of Management within the program.
Veronika Balandina, the program's director, presented the initiative's implementation mechanics at the State University of Management and its goals for 2025-2026 to those gathered.
On behalf of the university's partners, Alina Kontareva, President of the MnogoMama Center for Assistance to Large Families, who has been collaborating with GUU since 2023, spoke about the joint projects they have implemented. She expressed gratitude to the students for the interest, creativity, and responsibility they demonstrated during their work.
The event continued with presentations by students who were directly involved in the implementation of social initiatives.
Third-year student Tatyana Abakumova of the GUU Institute of Management and Social Sciences presented the school for administrators of the "Service-Learning" program, created jointly with Rosmolodezh.Granty. Nikita Aleinikov and Maria Userdnaya, also third-year students at the GUU Institute of Management and Social Sciences, shared their experience participating in the joint project "MnogoYunost" (MultiYouth) between the GUU Institute of Management and Social Sciences and the MultiMama Center for the Promotion of Youth.
