On September 24, the State University of Management held a seminar-meeting for university management entitled "Tools for Developing Youth Entrepreneurship at the University: An Integrated Approach to Training Personnel for an Innovative Economy."
On behalf of the host party, Vladimir Stroev, Rector of the State University of Management, greeted those gathered.
"Today, we're meeting not just in a hall, but in the atrium of the SUM Business Center, where similar events are regularly held. This year, we've taken a special approach to building a business community, implementing programs to develop relevant skills not only for students but also for schoolchildren. For example, we hold entrepreneurship sessions at four of the country's largest children's centers: Artek, Okean, Smena, and Orlyonok. We work with students at our Pre-University Center. We've been supervising entrepreneurship classes for several years now, and their number is growing. We have a historical right to do this, as SUM's roots go back to the Aleksandrovsky Commercial School, where many famous merchant families studied. This is our specialty, and we will continue to move in this direction and cultivate leaders in all sectors," the rector concluded.
Next to speak was Ksenia Goryacheva, First Deputy Chair of the State Duma Committee on Science and Higher Education, who urged seminar participants to be united and engaged and to view entrepreneurship as an opportunity for students, together with their teachers, to explore the world around them, apply their knowledge here and now, and find their place.
Alexander Vedekhin, Deputy Director of the Department of State Youth Policy and Educational Activities at the Russian Ministry of Education and Science, greeted the audience via videoconference. The expert described the development of the "Startup as a Diploma" project, noted the importance of building a community of university alumni, and emphasized that "today, every student should have the opportunity to connect with the business community and try their hand at starting their own business."
Moving from the welcome section to the working program, Olga Serebryannikova, Director of the Project Office for the Development of Youth Entrepreneurship in Higher Education Institutions of the Russian Ministry of Education and Science, introduced the event's organizers and described its structure and objectives.
Participants participated in a project session, where, through group work, they formulated their proposals on creating the necessary conditions for the development of the youth business community.
Before the presentation of the results of the work in the groups, university representatives were welcomed by Olga Petrova, Deputy Minister of Science and Higher Education of the Russian Federation.
"Today, there's a strong demand from students for technological entrepreneurship. From their first year, they strive to develop, create projects, and achieve success. Our goal is to provide them with education and the right knowledge, including teaching them that taking risks is okay, but only consciously. Over the past few years, many systematic efforts have been made in this area: the University Technological Entrepreneurship Platform and the "Startup as a Diploma" project, which 198 universities have already joined. The presence of rectors and vice-rectors today demonstrates that we also have the internal administrative resources to address local issues. What we're discussing today and what you're doing in your organizations is important and necessary. Thank you for your work," concluded Olga Petrova.
The Deputy Minister also emphasized that all final results of the seminar-meeting will be systematized and presented to the Ministry of Education and Science.
