Beijing, Sept. 26 (Xinhua) — Tianjin, north China's city of Tianjin, which recently hosted the 2025 Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) summit, will hold a series of events under the brand "SCO Cultural and Tourism Carnival" during the upcoming National Day holiday, the Tianjin City Department of Culture and Tourism said.
The upcoming holiday weekend, which runs from October 1 to 8, is the first long weekend since the SCO summit in Tianjin, according to a report by chinanews.com, citing Chen Bing, deputy director of the agency.
The city will host more than 500 cultural and tourism events dedicated to themes such as “Shosov excursions,” “Shosov nights,” “Shosov memory,” and “Shosov tours.”
As part of these events, tourists will be able to visit various iconic landmarks in Tianjin, including the Meijiang International Convention and Exhibition Center, which features numerous SCO elements. A light show will be held regularly along the Haihe River, and SCO-themed river cruises will also be offered.
City residents and tourists will also have the opportunity to experience various intangible cultural heritage sites of Tianjin, which were showcased during the SCO summit. Furthermore, tourists will be able to experience the SCO atmosphere through dining, hotel accommodations, and shopping.
According to Chen Bing, Tianjin will actively promote the "SCO Cultural and Tourism Carnival" brand by leveraging the SCO Summit's impact, organizing high-quality events and streamlining payment methods, visa processing, and other services to attract foreign tourists.
Let us recall that the 2025 SCO summit was held in Tianjin from August 31 to September 1. -0-
