DALIAN, Sept. 25 (Xinhua) — The large gas carrier Sea Spirit, independently designed and built by China, was delivered to its customer on Wednesday in the port city of Dalian, northeast China's Liaoning Province.

The 175,000 cubic metre vessel is designed to transport liquefied natural gas (LNG) at temperatures as low as minus 163 degrees Celsius, making it a key element in the global LNG supply chain.

The design and construction of large gas carriers is a concentrated embodiment of the comprehensive strength of the country's shipbuilding sector.

The new LNG carrier was built by Dalian Shipbuilding Industry Company, a subsidiary of China State Shipbuilding Corporation (CSSC), and commissioned by China Merchants Energy Shipping Co., Ltd. The overall length of the LNG carrier is 295 meters, the width is 46.4 meters, the depth is 26.2 meters, and the design draft is 11.5 meters.

The gas carrier Morskoy Spirit can dock at the vast majority of major LNG terminals around the world, as it has excellent port adaptability and ship-to-shore compatibility.

The vessel is equipped with an advanced GTT Mark III membrane sealing system, which is characterized by a high level of safety, great stability and low LNG losses during transportation.

The new gas carrier meets the most stringent emissions standards set by the International Maritime Organization and has high energy-saving and environmental performance. -0-
